Wow... not bad at all and if you plan to option up your polo then the price gap would be very minimal given the standard equipment.

"Standard features include xenon-plus headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights and LED interior lighting, along with a 6.5 inch full-colour screen, rear parking sensors, Bluetooth connectivity and light and rain sensors"

As expected, another overpriced Audi. The Polo GTI is just about the best bang for buck car out there at the moment....then again I'm biased

What is worrying is that it is priced similar to a 3 door GOLF gti with DSG

Not bad at all looking at the standard options it comes with! .... this is strange though as when I went to test drive the A1s before ordering my gti. the Ambition and Attraction models were already 38 thousand and 40 thousandish depending on options... this seems very cheap compared to the basic models in the A1 range.

Audi has always been more than VW, why do people expect something different here? There are many people who would buy the A1 and not consider the Polo.

I've got a couple of friends who had Audi's and they both took a bath on resale price when changing over the car.

As others have said, Audi are a more "premium brand" than Volkswagen. It's always been that way. I've been in both the Audi A1 (90kw ambition) and the Polo GTI and I must say that the Audi has a decent offering.

I'm actually surprised at the price of this. It's about where I thought it'd be $42k (I guessed at $40). Yet it comes with a decent wack of standard features which I didn't guess on:
"Standard features include xenon-plus headlights with LED daytime running lights, LED taillights and LED interior lighting, along with a 6.5 inch full-colour screen, rear parking sensors, Bluetooth connectivity and light and rain sensors"

The simple fact of it is, that Polo GTI whilst comparable in performance etc, just doesn't have the options and luxuries that this Audi A1 does. There is no factory navigation, no factory audio package, no factory leather package (well, vinyl and alcantara, but not real leather), no factory led taillights, no keyless entry and start etc etc...

Also keep in mind that this article only includes "major noteworthy items", thus until we see the full specifications we don't know what other standard inclusions make the cut which also increase the value of this.

Oh, another thing about Audi's... they have a larger margin and you can often get a much better discount.
This is not to say that this will EVER be had for the Polo GTI's price - because that's just not reasonable - this is a far more luxurious car. But I don't feel that this price is as outrageous as some of you seem to be claiming.

Btw... this undercuts the the Mini Cooper S Chilli by $2,100, despite including more "notable features" as standard. Therefore, verse a "true" competitor, it's great value.
