    Audi 80 engine mounting ?

    Hi All
Odd question I know but which way is the engine in an 1988 Audi 80? North-South or East-West.

    Cheers Geoff

Hi Jarred. It's been a while mate. Cheers for that info. Tell you why I was interested. I bought a used SD code motor a while ago. It's the 1847cc (1.9) 10:1 comp G grind standard puts out around 110 bhp. I put it in the rally car and it ran a big end bearing 7.5k into the first stage so that was that. I was checking through all the oil pumps I have and noticed that the pick up pipe on the SD pump is longer than a Golf putting it more up one end of the sump. Thinking now that the SD failure was due to oil surge.

    Ahh, I see now.

That does make sense, especially given that' you're racing will put oil all around the sump I'd imagine.

did you have a windage tray in there?
