a4 b5 quattro need some more hp!!

Well as i still have the audi , i want to spice it up a bit !
    First thing ! a chip , i know apr dont do one for a 97 A4 quattro turbo ?

a turbo upgrade is just too much coin !

ive had a look through threads but dont see much on the early b5s, been trying to log into ozaudi but cant seem to get in there as with the resetting of passwords ect..... cant be stuffed with it, so with about $700 what could i invest in ? everything else is stock on the car !!!!

I'd be looking to the states for an ECU that has been chipped already.

I am pretty sure there's a number of compatible ECUs that will go into your car without immobilisation problems.

Have a look on VWVortex.com Try doing a search on your ECU part number and see what comes up.

will give that a go , but will it be safe to import the chip onto a 5valve 1.8 turbo on an aussie spec audi ?
i know how to deal with vr6 and older golfs but an audi seems to be different , as it is the same as mk4 gti golf (early spec engine on audi) just dont think i need to take it to apr or ect... plug and play ????

if i get a modified ecu , will it be ok on the stock turbo ?
, like i was saying before my car has been in the garage for a long time , in beut condition ect... just dont want to put to much tenstion on the engine so i can prolonge the life out of the turbo !!
? to be honest i got no idea about turbos , waste gates ect ...pipes , just know that this car will be awsome with a little mod , and some damn new rims lol

    Sorry missed that last request.

Assuming the car has been well serviced in the past and you look after now, there's no reason a chipped ECU will shorten the life of the motor.

You might be into a clutch sooner than normal but that's really a running cost and down to driving style.

the clutch was replaced 10000klm ago ,the chances are there to change some fitments , but would like to go through with it prof..
the clutches are very light compared to my last golfs , and then switching to an audi,
the vr6 was heavy on the long corners being stock as well but the a4 felt better and stiffer in the seat !!

question !!! how often do the diffs have to be changed for oil ? and what recommended ??
    cheers , shane

I did the oil in my S3 at the weekend. No idea if it had been done before. Cost me 26.50 for a litre of Castrol synthetic. It won't do any harm changing it.

I am sure Jimmy will chime in shortly with the full answer.

The diffs are a check only according to the schedule, now so is the ZF auto which is sealed for life. I personally dont agree with it and have done countless Boxsters that were flairing around 80k. change the strainer and oil and unleashes new life. I would recommend it changed at least at the big service at 120k. 1st big service is 60k and is a little bit early unless you have a CVT which is meant to be 60k and IMO thats too late!! At 120k i would even recommend changing power steer fluid, what a difference that makes too.
To conclude (I) would change manual and diff at 120K.
    Cheers

Well moving back to perth next week from a long stint in central queensland messing around with drill rigs , now its time to get back to the audi , where it has been garaged for the past 5 months driven once a week by my old man ,
am going to give it a oil change (engine)
    gearbox oil
    diff oil
and most filters i can get to, i have spent little time in this car so will be listening to it carefully !!
