and finally some inspiration
A few weeks ago I picked up my first car, being a 1998 Audi A3 1.8T. Has ~130,000kms on the clock. 5sp manual. Leather. Sunroof. Black.
After owning it for approximately an hour, I went past JB and bought a tape-deck to AUX cord so I could at least fist pump away to my iPod beats as I drove along.
It got jammed.
I attempted to return it but as it was stuck IN my car, was unable to return in until i had removed it. It was eventually removed and I had my cd stacker in the back along with the radio. I then removed the headunit and attempted to install a friend's old one. it didn't work and i drove around with wires for a couple of weeks, then realised i left my favourite cd in the cd stacker which would no longer open.
it ended in this.
anyway fast forward a bit and so far, heres whats happened...
Exterior
Black front badge
Black rear badge
Jap-style tow hook
Wanky stickers
VR6 BBS sprayed black
Black grille surround
Tinted tail lights
German badge on grille
Stubby antenna
Fluffy thing hanging from tow hook (since removed)
Repositioned number plate
More wanky stickers
Eyelids
7000k Globes
LED T10s
Interior
7" flip out touch screen headunit
a little piece of fabric tied around my gearstick
a laminated card my girlfriend gave me which i keep under my sun-visor
and now photos...
the last few shots show what happened on good friday, woke up bright and early as i was heading down to my girlfriend's farm, car was parked out front hers and some point between 11 the night before and 9 when i went out to my car, a bolt had been thrown through my back window.
bit of a blow as i'm having enough trouble sorting out my clutch (which, for the record has shat itself) but oh well, **** happens and some people just don't have anything better to do than **** with peoples ****.
anyhow, been meaning to do this as a 'progressive' build thread but have only gotten around to doing it now (as i have an assignment due on wednesday - procrastinating) photos above show how the car has changed and also the spraying of the wheels and them after fitment earlier today...
they're small, only 15s, and as they are running a lower profile tyre (my stock alloys were 15s but 205/60/15 compared to now running 205/50/15) my speedo is running slightly fast and the whole car feels completely different.. might be moving these on soon as they are a bit too small... for the price i couldnt say no as they are brand new tyres but we'll see... seems to have dropped the car too
also got a sub thrown in!
on the list to come
Clutch
coils
rear window
wheels
stance
stage 1 tune
exhaust
etc etc...
now question time
- heard both good and bad things about spacers - someone sway me?
- stage 1 tune - anything i haven't heard before?
and i'm sure there'll be more to come... passanger window goes down but not up
thanks guys

That windscreen might cost a fair bit, have you thought about claiming it on. Insurance

Ive got exactly the same dude
Tinted taillights look good, was going To do the same but it's not worth getting a defect up here in qld
Everything else looks sweet
For my exhaust I got 2 3/4 catback system with an added resonator to keep the noise down a bit, sounds great and not droney at all, should be getting chipped next week too, can let you know how that goes
Sucks about your rear glass too, I'd be pissed off to say the least if I got out of bed to see that
Goodluck with the rest if your build bud
Radiators are over rated
exactly what i didn't want to hear - not covered by insurance either
the whole car needs a good wash and some decent photos taken, will get these up when i can. has had a knock in the front bumper and both the bonnet and roof are slightly chalky so i've got some paint renovator to hopefully bring it back a bit..

let me know how your tune goes and who you get it done through - i'm currently looking at REVO as AudVolks do REVO and are going to be fitting my clutch so i figured I'd kill two birds with the one stone... yet to be confirmed however as this window has really set me back,..
Have you checked with James as they only install parts which they supply
