Had to google NVH to work it out.
I tried to explain the subtle differences to my partner the other day when we saw a new jetta parked next to an audi and you coulnd't tell them apart.
Have an A3 1.8T (6 months old I'd say) loan car while my GTI is in at the shop being fixed.
While obviously not as powerful or performance-orientated as the Golf, I've very impressed with the overall fit and finish - more so than the few MK6's I've been in too.
I never really understood why people paid the premium for the Audi when it's essentially the same product as the VW, in different skin, but I would say that the overall NVH and quality is much better/nicer. Still wouldn't buy one over the equivalent Golf, but pleasantly surprised.

Definitely the newer audi's are getting better...when comparing 2012 models to 2012 models (vw vs audi ) i think the audi's are nicer.
I recently went from a 09 TSI golf to a 07 Quattro A3.
I guess since the A3 is still based off the mk5 golf , and the 09 TSI golf was mk6... I did go from a newer design, to an older one.
I think the golf was over all a much nicer car. The mk6 had less body roll than my quattro a3!
The cup holder placing in the audi is stupid, along with hand brake position ( gets stuck on the arm rest).... bottom line.. don't sell your newer vw to buy an older audi (even if only 2 years older)!
