They are all different. Have a really good look at the photos. Different materials, different fabrication techniques, different designs.
I have no idea which is the best bang for buck.
They are all for the old 1.8 5-valver I think
just having a bit of a research session

all from different countries and vary in price. So what exactly would be the difference as visually all have the same design (on the outside anyway)

I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
They are for the 1.8T.
I have a 42draft designs on mine from before the AUD jumped out the window. Space is very tight so you need to be pretty sure what you buy will fit. Or any savings on the cost would be eaten away if you have to spend money modifying.
Pipewerx and Milltek are reputable but there's others selling similar stuff. Don't just go for shiny.

What about options in Oz? I couldn't really find any unless you go with an APR tune or something...
What's wrong with shiny? LOL
Downpipe Hosenrohr Audi S3 8L 1.8T Quattro 225PS Sportkat 200 Zellen
this one seems a little more twisted? (but not shiny)
Why not go custom?
lol
...well you can still function OK with only one kidney... true though that it's about quadruple the cost
i've tried searching online for custom work here in oz but can't seem to find much info
This one gets a good write up mate. Otherwise the pipewerx one would be my go...

As far as custom downpipes are concerned, there's a place on Brisbane's northside who I would consider using Fat Pipes Custom Exhausts
I'm sure there would be a similar Custom Performance Exhaust workshop in Melbourne. They wouldn't have an off-the-shelf item but could make something good to fit. I would assume most performance exhaust shops would have a good grasp on the requirements and function of a downpipe and could make something up to suit.
I ordered from 42DD a GTImk5 downpipe for my mk2 TT BWA engine (as the power train is almost identical), it took a little filing and grinding here and there to perfect its alignment (had it on and off a few times!), but it fits and works fine. I got Fat Pipes to make the rest of the exhaust for me. Thinking about it now, It might have been smarter to get them to make the downpipe too!
There's a good write up on turbo exhaust design that's worth a read http://www.tercelreference.com/tercel_info/turbo_exhaust_theory/turbo_exhaust_theory.html
cheers...
