So patience will be rewarded in the end...
    Do you mean MKVI?

Would hope it's a step up over the MK4, but awesome news if it's a BIG step up over the MK6!

sorry, yes. MkVI Gti... post corrected. Big step up from MkVI. I test drove a MkVI golf R before I ordered the S3, and the R felt like the Gti with some more beans, where the S3 is noticably faster again, particularly from 60-110 km/h (not beyond 110 though, as every K over is a killer). Finish in the cabin and general refinement has improved too.

The S3 and Golf R are the exact same car, hopefully you do realise this lol.

They had to detune the Golf R to justify the S3 - with a tune, both cars will be on par as one another and offer the same power.

Unfortunately, we live in a nanny country. But then again under 61-65k for the S3 drive away fully optioned is a lot better then 80+ fully optioned as they were originally.

Both cars will be detuned for Australia (standard). But if you're a "lease" show pony driver and want to keep your warranties i guess this is important, for those who enjoy a little flash here, suspension there overall the finished product and power will be the same.

    He compared a Mk6 R with an 8V S3. So your post is effectively saying that a Mk6 R is the same as a Mk7 R.

So someone who buys a car and for whatever reasons doesn't want to modify it, is a show pony? Get over yourself

    Are you daft?

The Golf R reports clearly state this will be detuned to our climate, like previous VW's which we all know. Or maybe you don't read anything and do any research on the cars. Use google buddy, or would you like me to directly link you if that helps you out?

Regarding you fancying around on your Shetland Pony (or similar) thats your choice

What i am saying is, for those who decide they want more oomph or enjoy modifying/customising their cars the choice with your tune will have the same power or more than either or models (s3/golf r)modifying their cars.

For those who enjoy like yourself riding their Horse, Pony (maybe miniature?) the S3 will have more KW factory vs the Golf R, and of course more than the GTI ... but you should know this already :p

    Are you daft?

No one has mentioned that the MK6 R/8P S3 was detuned and the new MK7 R/8V S3 will also be detuned except for you. Why?

Does the fact that I didn't mention it nor the OP mean we aren't aware of it? I'll help you out with this one because you clearly struggled to comprehend - it's because unlike you, we knew it was not relevant to the R v S3 discussion that the OP started.

Or (paraphrasing YOU here if you didn't realise) maybe you don't read anything and would like me to explain it to you if that helps you out?

What I am saying is, whether someone chose to buy the GTI, R or S3, it's THEIR car and surprise surprise can decide themselves to modify it OR NOT, but at the end of the day, by the sounds of it the only show pony here is YOU!

Maybe you should read a little more carefully vs your uni bachelor of ass degree reply mr Shetland. It was said that the S3 felt stronger than the Golf R.

Pay attention young hoofer. "sorry, yes. MkVI Gti... post corrected. Big step up from MkVI. It seems your Pony comes in warrior hoof mode, keyboard it seems. Hoof on my furry friend.

/end for me. You missed the whole point buddy.

He said, as you quoted which you obviously still can't comprehend:

the S3 is noticably faster again (than the R)

    to which you arrogantly replied:

Get it? I think you miss the point entirely

    Umm... to clarify,
    1. I currently own a Mk VI Gti
    2. Recently test drove Mk VI R - more powerful, but still obviously close to Gti
    3. Now also own 8v S3, more powerful again than MkVI R. Both are de-tuned versions of the Euro models, but as I have not driven the Euro ones, I will not comment on them.
    4. MkVII Ris not released in this country yet, I have not driven it, but am aware it is the same platform with same tune as the 8v S3.
    5. All great cars, all fun to drive, I like the S3 the most so far.
    6. I am not leasing the car, but have no plans to modify
