Tidy S3 you have there mate. Any reason you didn't upgrade the rods when you did the pistons? I hear k04s at 30+psi can be fun

I brought it after the motor was done, it was built by Seb at Euroautomotive , who says it should still be good for a GTX28... But Im watching a thread on Audi-sport very closely using a standard FSI K04 on a built 1.8T that look like its going to get some awesome results, with far less boost than my current tune. Much better results than the K04 hybrids even, the outcome of their current build will be bolt on kits hopefully!

So on the weekend I did a few things

    Heres a before pic:

I firstly removed the N249 system, this is the system the ecu uses to control the DV, so now the DV is plumbed directly to the intake manifold so is a bit more responsive. Basically simplfies the system and fair bit and removes a lot of clutter from on top of the tappet cover. Forgot to take a before pic with out the engine cover, but heres the after for that:

Then yesterday I pulled off the top intercooler pipe and painted it wrinkle finish black. Its nearly a perfect match for the finish on the plastics, expect for the 1 finger print we got on there while installing it. This mostly occured becuase we gave the paint 2 hours drying time before installing it instead of the 48hrs the can suggested haha

Still want to do a catch can install but couldnt find one I was happy with to buy from a shop so going to order a 42DD one from Carformance. The inside of the intercooled pipes had a little bit of oil inside, over 6000kms the oil had dropped from Full to Low on the dipstick. So would prefer to catch that before it goes through the intake.

Unless you vent the can to atmosphere, there's no way to avoid oil getting into the intercooler pipes completely.

The crinkle paint takes a long time to dry properly. I have a couple of those charge pipes if you want to do another one later on. I put a Forge alloy pipe on mine and wrinkled it up.

Your oil consumption isn't heavy IMO. Just as likely that the motor is still bedding in from what you have said about it.

Could take a while for the oil usage to come right down.

    Gavin

PS go to Audi and buy some fasteners for the engine cover, those tywraps are not cutting it

Whats wrong with my Zipties? haha it is on my list, but it makes it super easy to check under there! just flips forwards like a second bonnet.

Im not too worried about the oil consumption but would like to catch as much as possible before it goes through the engine. Engine should be fully bedded, now has 10,000kms on it.

Was going to plumb it back in, the 42DD cans have the guase type filter to catch more oil etc than an empty can would so I figured it would minimize what is entering the intake.

Does the Forge Charge Pipe make a big difference?
