Havent updating this in 3 months it has seemed...
Not much has been happening with the car been focusing my time on wakeboarding and money has been going towards new additions to my broken board collection...
But back to the car, she hasnt been running great.
Syptoms are really bad starts, misfiress, oil leak from the front of the engine. All pointing towards a bad Suction pump and PCV, but Iv been to busy to spend anytime looking at it. Im collecting parts together replace most of this system and install a catch can, but will still be a couple weeks before I get a chance to do it
Also have new Forge Tubo Outlet pipe coming, the standard one has let go.
And will be changing my Haldrex and Diff oil.
Got the filter tool if you want to borrow it. and a suction jet valve you can troubleshoot with
Ill definitely be grabing that filter tool when I go to do it.
I was going to follow this: Guide - How to fit a catch can and simplify the PCV system
So this removes the Vacumm pump all together, I have to pull the coveres off teh check the pump visually, but I think its split. Have an oil leak from that area. But only when I use a fair bit of boost. Driving off bost no oil leaks at all.
See what's broken mate, I have a new t piece, jet pump and some other bits in my cupboard. Might be as easy to fix what's there?
My thoughts are that the suction pump & PCV system in general is a common issue on these cars. The price of a new suction pump isn't too different from a catch can and some 19mm pipe so why not replace it with something that won't fail in the future?
A suction pump is $66 on ecs tuning, and this one only lasted 30k Kms. Which is about a year for me. And I think I can do a catch can for under $100.
But what do you think is the best option? You know more about these engines than me Gav!

Borrow mine and see if it fixes the problem. Might be something simple that doesn't cost the earth. I am not convinced catch cans are the best fix. Anthony ended up taking the can off his Polo.

I just pulled the front cover off and suction pump is fubar. It's split open at one end.
Thanks Gav, I'll send you a txt about dropping around 1 arvo/night.
A mate might tag along with me, wants to talk to you about tuning for his Jetta 147TSI.
No worries. In work tomorrow from 1900. Off Wednesday. Days Thursday friday saturday. Did you take a picture?
