    Question 1.8 t B5 turbo conversion

Anyone know who will convert a standard Audi 1.8t turbo to larger vane/ball bearing? I have a client looking to upgrade his turbo but not wanting to do the serious chip thing. I steered him that way but he is over the boy racer thing
    Cheers

Theres no point upgrading the turbo without chipping it or getting an aftermarket computer.

Aslong as its late 96 or 97+ make sure he chips it, see how it feels then think about larger turbo!

Standard computer won't be able to inject enough fuel etc to make any difference no matter what size turbo you put in.

My 60+ year old father took my car for a drive before and after it was chipped and was very impressed it lost no driveability (even easier to drive were his words), so none of this boy racer rubbish.

The fella is correct that sticking a different turbo on will do nothing without software to suit.

It's the way the ECU works. If the std turbo had quit then for little extra money he could fit a better/bigger/different turbo but whatever goes on there it won't make more power or drive differently without a change in software.

Either way the first step would be ask the customer what he is really looking for, more power or a replacement turbo for one which sounds as though there is nothing wrong with it.

    Hope that's more helpful.

    Gavin

http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/...category=Turbo ecstuning say that this will go on with no change in software but as that controls the boost and therefore the power, I can't see the point.
