Well make sure he let's you know if he gets any more info on the Yeti.

A list of what is standard equipment would be great.

The Bulletin was only a few pages long and only included the pricing, the dimensions and some of the technical data. If i can get access to the equipment list I will post it. Otherwise the brochures shouldn't be too far away from arriving at the dealerships.

I also hope Skoda Australia has opted for the Space Saver tyre as standard equipment (or at least a no cost option). I would prefer to lose some boot space to have a spare tyre, even if it is a space saver, rather than a useless puncture repair kit.
Lol, fat chance on the leather and electric seat but as if it won't have a spare tyre? And as Transporter said, the ix35 certainly doesn't drive well and I'm sure the Sportage doesn't either. Sportage Platinum/SLi diesels have a minimum six-month waiting list too I might add. While there may be a similar waiting list to get your exact spec with a Yeti, the Sportages have no options so the only difference is colour - you're waiting six months for a colour and that's the only for of individualisation. The ix35 and Sportage are groundbreaking cars for the Hyundai/Kia Group as we know, but there's still some way to catch up.

The Yeti you want will end up costing $45k I reckon.

You would think a spare tyre was a given, especially for a 4x4 in Australia, but as far as I can tell, an actual spare tyre (space saver) is an additional cost option for the Yeti in every other market.

I've (briefly) driven the Sportage Diesel and I was quite impressed, although I haven't driven a VW/Skoda Diesel to compare it with.

Last I read, the wait time was now more like 2-3 months and I recently saw a Sportage Platinum diesel sitting on display in a dealer's yard so you don't necessarily have to wait. In any case, as you said, the wait for the Yeti is likely to be just as long, if not longer.

If that is the case, then I may not be getting a Yeti........

    A) It will be - that's the reason the Tiguan boot is so small. It has the raised floor to accommodate the wheel here. Imagine the criticism Skoda would receive!
    B) I was talking mostly about handling but sure.
    C) I read the report of the MY12 Sportage (which now has a more masculine-sounding horn - yes they had that in their press release) saying they've open up stock a little bit and the six-months should be a bit less. My Yeti point was that yes, a waiting list might happen but at least you'll get a car with a bit of individuality.
    D) Be my guest. But drive them all first (as I'm sure you'll do).

I hope you are right, but the Skoda Australia website quotes the usual 416L Luggage Room (http://www.skoda.com.au/yeti/technical.aspx) that you only get with the Puncture Repair kit, not the 322L you get with the spare tyre. Of course, website may not be 100% correct.

Sadly, long wait times seem to be more and more the norm for the new car buying experience these days for many manufacturers.

Well knock me over with a feather. The Skoda Australia web site might be wrong? Surely you jest.

    Scandalous suggestion, I know.

There is another page that refers to boot volume being between 146 and 1760 litres.

You can therefore take advantage of a boot volume from 146 to 1,760 litres. For the first time, a ŠKODA's luggage space has the option of three solutions for the floor and the fixing system with horizontal bars and movable hooks.

I took that "146" to be a typo and should read "416".

Looks like the NZ version of the Yeti comes with the spare wheel as standard as the specs on the Skoda NZ website (NZ Yeti Specs March 2011) quote luggage capacity (litres) of 322 to 1665 (compared to the 416 to 1760 litres above).
