    Swapping Spitzbergs for Matterhorns

I like the look of the Matterhorn wheels and think they'd go great with my black roof'd Yeti.

When I bought the car earlier in the year, they weren't available as an option (or so I was told anyway). I think I've read that they now are ... but this doesn't help me obviously, since I already have the Spitzbergs on my 103TDI.

Assuming I'd have to pay outright for 4 new wheels, would anyone want a set of Spitzbergs? Perhaps a 77TSI owner who isn't happy with their wheels? If anyone's interested let me know as it may be the catalyst I need to make the Matterhorns a more affordable purchase.

P.S. I'm in Melbourne ... but would happily ship interstate.

I'd be waiting until they are on clearance or someone swaps theirs out, Skoda will charge you a phenomenal price to buy them outright.

Is this sort of thing advertised somewhere that you can point me to? Or is it something I'd have to contact Skoda dealers about on a periodic basis?

It's not really advertised, I've seen dealers do it when a wheel design changes, but it would assume that a dealer has a spare set, the local audi dealer does it, but never seen them do it forbskoda wheels. Best bet is picking them up from someone who changed rims.

Thanks. I was also thinking of contacting the salesperson and having a chat to him about it. They looked after me during the sale, almost to the point that I think they were desperate to get my car out on the road so people would know the model actually exists.

Part of me is expecting him to just go "Yeah the RRP is $500 a piece so that'll be ... let me check ... $2K thanks" or something like that.

But in the off-chance there's a way I can trade mine in or something ... and they use my old ones (which look like new still) on some demo car or something ... I figure it's worth asking.

Ask as at least you will know the cost, its pretty much always double what it would be as an option and they will be as rims alone unless they pull them off another car.

If the Matterhorns are the wheels on the 77TDI, then I don't see why the dealership wouldn't take a 1:1 swap for your 103TDI standard wheels - then they can sell a 77TDI for a little more, at no cost to them!
Providing they're in perfect condition, etc.

No they're the black 17" wheels on the 77TSI Urban or the optional Black Pack on the 4x4 models so I can understand why they'd cost more. But if your rims are perfect they should just do a trade instead of charging a ridiculous amount for four new wheels.

I'm equal parts hopeful & doubtful. Will report back here how it all goes.

Don't know if this helps, but I'd take one Spitzberg wheel, maybe even two. Would like a full size spare.

SuperSkodahave them for 166 euro (about $A210 at present) but I can't get them to respond to messages.

    I'm in Melbourne too.
