"With a choice of up-to-date turbocharged direct-injected engines, more technology and such versatile packaging, Yeti has strong credentials. Just how it competes against its opposition like Subaru Forester, Nissan Dualis, Kia Sportage, Hyundai ix35 and Suzuki Grand Vitara will remain a question until we get our hands on one Down Under. "
Not a single mention of the Tiguan nor the RAV4, X-Trail, CRV, CX7 or Captiva.
All of the articles linked to in the last week or so show clear signs that they have been largely written by plagiarising the copious marketing handouts that journalists are given on these sorts of junkets. The paragraph above is the clearest indication yet the Skoda are going to be very, very aggressive on the pricing and see their initial at least target market as the budget SUV buyer.

I hope Skoda really take it to that competition with some super aggressive pricing and equipment levels

Although I think the author has it wrong when he says the 103TDI AWD Yeti will get a 7spd DSG. Everything I have read overseas says they still only get the 6spd DSG.
They have now corrected the error. They didn't post my comment, but they did email to acknowledge and thank me for the tip.

Test drove the 1.2l TSI base Yeti today (except it had leather seats that were upholstered locally)

The vision out of it is great. Love the dash, and passenger space, but having an RS, the boot seems small, and the fit and finish seems to have dropped a bit. (I know that this is in contrast with what has been reported previously) Apparently early adopters of this particular model will lose out (just like most Skoda owners) The MY12 model is supposed to come with a 110kW 1.2l engine instead of the 77kW engine. (No change in price, apparently) The ride was nice too.
