i looked at the jetta (147) & the golf gti. an equivalent spec'ed one as mine would've cost me around $55k, brand new!!
i drove mine away for just $44k!!
u get alot more bang for buck with a skoda than u do with vw or an audi.....for sure.
I have mainly been looking at the Skoda NZ website, but they only seemed to offer the Yeti in two different engines with similar standard features then it came down to optional add-ons (a la VW). However, looking at Skoda UK website, I see they have Trim levels (E, S, SE, Elegance) that have more and more kit as standard. That's what I want to see here.

    Don't.
Skoda in New Zealand is imported by a private distributor. They have a far greater ability to customise vehicles and to pick and choose what they want compared to the factory owned Skoda Australia. You have to couple that with NZ having very different regulations relating to safety systems and pollution gear than Australia does. You can't relate what is on sale in the two countries.

I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the tip.

Of course, and now that they're actually available on the Yeti I'm even happier . I bet you'd love to see me embarrassed too .

    Truly?
Have you tried to see if they work because if they do it's probably the only one in Australia.

The FL Octavia MY09/10 (before standard sat-nav came in) 118TSI/103TDI had them, but not the RS or 77MPI/77TDI.

Given all the talk about them being released at the Melbourne Motor Show in July, I am guessing that is when Skoda will announce the final pricing and specification levels.

Given the lead times UK buyers are reporting, I am guessing the first Yetis ordered in July (either by Dealers or eager early adopters) will then be delivered in October.

So is anyone game to place an order without a test drive ?

At least you can drive another Skoda or VW to test out the engine / transmission combination and get a bit of a feel for it, even if not the full Yeti package.

I've never driven as DSG so I would want to see what that is like. We recently drove a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso but Citroen's EGS semi-auto was a shocker. Whilst I don't expect the DSG to be anything like the Citroen EGS, it did highlight how different the driving experience can be with all these new fangled auto and semi-auto transmissions.
