    My New Yeti

    Well after what has seemed like an eternity...

    We finally managed to decide on a new skoda and yes I WON ( not that it was a competition ) so we are now proud owners of a Mato brown 1.2 dsg Yeti but it wasn't without dramas...... We have just finished a write up and posted it on my wife's blog if anyone wants a look, its quite long so you may need a cuppa? Anyway here is the vehicle

    Thanks to everyone who answered my posts and gave me advice, it was much appreciated.

    Will let you know how it's going after a few weeks. So far i have ordered the autoglym HD wax and SRP polish from the uk so as soon as that arrives i will be getting some TLC on the paintwork and i have also to sort out the window tinting and mats .

    Love the colour! I saw my first Yeti on Tasmanian roads today, it was that colour too. I nearly ran off the road gawking

    Congratulations

    I bought the same colour and spec + panoramic roof.

    The engine is so quite when idling at lights that it feels like it switches off. The DSG it excellent too.

    I winced when it was mentioned on the blog about getting finance at the dealer. In my recent encounter I already had mine lined up and the finance guy was smug saying he doubted I would get the rate I mentioned, and that he would follow up the following Monday to see if its was real. He never rang and when I had to hassle him later in the week for the invoice for mine, all smugness disappeared when he realised I really did have a much cheaper rate. He then repaid me by stuffing around and not producing the invoice for a long time, then doing it wrong in hopes it would delay my finance and I would have to use them. I had to get the sales manager onto him in the end.

    I have also had that same convo with the aftersales accessories people and they just accepted it, although our Skoda dealer was new and actually didn't have such a person, and forgot to actually ask me about things. Because I was buying an RS apart from window tinting and paint protection, there wasn't much to sell to me anyway at the time.

    Sadly most of the time they are evil incarnate, except for the sales guy at my dealer who has sadly gone to be replaced by a few more shady guys.

    I love it what you did to Ms Aftercare. Bit nasty though. I did it once, it didn't make her cry, but she hot really angry and walk out the room. I don't know if your Ms Aftercare was really crying or not. Maybe it was her first day of work and she blew it, so she was upset, or maybe the salesman just try to say that to make you feel bad.

    That is why I always use a broker now to avoid this trouble. Alternatively, I check on the best price for these aftercares online first before I go and sign a deal, and ask Ms Aftercare to beat it. That way, I still get the best price and not upsetting Ms Aftercare. (on average, a premium window tint, paint protection, interior protection, seat fabric/leather protection and electronic rust proofing can be done as a package in less than $1000, that's my going rate. But Ms Aftercare would usually charge you $3200 for it. So no need to feel bad)

    Anyway, congratulation, very nice color. Very nice car. The price you got is a steal! You will have many years of happy motoring.

    With the last couple of cars I've bought, after reaching a price I was happy with, I've only agreed if they *don't* thrust the after care people on me. Works a charm (though with the Skoda there was a moment of "we agreed you wouldn't do that" as he started to sell me some extra insurance). They make you spend so much time negotiating, I'm not going to listen to someone try to sell me crap I don't need or can get elsewhere for half the price.

    Also, I love that colour - I saw one in a Malachite Green the other day too and it looked brilliant. Hope you are really happy with the purchase.
