Is the Bolero stereo Digital Radio compatible ???

I just realised the other night that if you are on a FM station, and it you press EXTRAS and RADIO TEXT - the name of the program or song being played comes up on the screen ! This is new to me, does that mean the radio unit is Digital Radio compatible ???

Also, has anyone else been able to use the TIM function ? I suspect no radio stations in Sydney provide a traffic information service.

Also, the Bolero handbook says you can choose EQ Settings (Rock, Classic, Vocal etc . . . ). I believe this cannot be done and only the three equaliser settings can be changed. Is this right ???

I still reckon for a OEM unit, its bloody brilliant !

The Bolero is a very good OEM unit but it would be better if it allowed a default to radio text. The voice activation for bluetooth is pretty good too - it hasn't missed a beat in recognising names i want to call from my phonebook. Dunno about the EQ settings - it seems there might functions deleted from the setup screens.

Not necessarily, the radio name/song text feature is available on analogue stations as well. This feature is not the same as DAB/DAB+.

Having said that, there's rumours that the RNS510 is DAB upgradeable in "some" fashion. Maybe the Bolero is too... though there's no word if even then it'd be compatible with the Australian DAB+ format.

They do but it's encrypted and VAG hasn't licensed TMC. In theory again, if a license was to be obtained by VAG then theoretically existing units could be updated with new maps containing the TMC license and a TMC database. Then again, most people claim that TMC information in Sydney is hopeless.

I think you need the upgraded sound system to get these features in the Bolero.

I'll let you know when I pick up my Yeti later in the month. I have optioned it with the upgraded stereo.

    Happy Days.
