VW drivetrain I'd imagine to be cheaper to service as there are many 2.5 TDIs on the market.
Sprinter is market leader so if you want to be different go LT :

The LT is largly a PREfacelift T1N series Sprinter with the only difference being front sheet metal, engine and tail lights oh and the 3rd brake light! It even used the old Sprinter dash board and floor mounted gear lever. Personally I can't see the point of getting an LT unless 1:you are already very well versed on the VW 2.5 TDI 2: it's cheaper then a same year Sprinter, which I suspect it will be. Annoyingly I can't rememeber any technical specs of the LT and I did the predeliver work on all the launch vehicles!
