Post NEW 2017 Crafter brochure (in German)

The Crafter details are definitely out now on the German web site - the big question will still be release date for Australia and how VGA will package them and what models.
In Germany there are now three drive varieties (front, rear and 4Motion will also be available), three lengths and different roof heights.
Some of the assistance systems may be packed as standard others will still remain an option (like park assist & adaptive cruise).
I'm just excited that we finally will have a product which will look familiar in terms of steering wheel and buttons and no longer feels like a Merc...

...and there is the first change in the original Crafter's design, that I don't like. Why did VW have to go with the transversely mounted engine in the 4motion model, when there is an Iveco van, the same size or smaller, using even bigger engine (3.0L) and they can fit the engine longitudinally.

I guess, to hope they would use a full chassis is just dreaming.

Anyway......if they were boasting 'Long Service Life'........wouldn't they use chains instead of belts?

I'd hate to buy a new model with the chain driven engine only to find out later that the chains have the issues, like stretching or being noisy. For these reasons I always prefer the timing belt. Unless it's proven chain driven engine.

The NZ pdf is a good read, they always get a load of options that we don't get over here.

There option list also has more information than what we get here, id like to know why Australia gets a dumbed down version of the option list.

same with the T6 transporter options
