OBDELEVEN or Carista You need more than just an app as you need the unit to connect to the car and the first one is the best as it allows you to code things in the vehicle With a 2021 model you must unlock the bonnet for it to word to defeat the SFD electronic locking

The Carista device will do what you need and more. OBDEleven is probably overkill for what you want, and with the vast majority of new models you cant code features anyway.

I have Carista and recommend it. Another bonus with the Carista is that you can see how full your DPF (diesel particulate filter) is and kickstart a regen which is handy (i use that particular feature often, because if left to its own devices, the car always seems to decide to do a regen when you are 5 mins away from home after you have been driving in perfect conditions for an hour on the freeway) as far as im aware is not something you can do with OBDEleven.

Im not sure. I have used the regen function on 3x modern VW/Audis and it has worked on all of them, but none were as new as your car.

You have to REALLY be paying attention to notice and you can only really tell if you come to a stop at a traffic light with your window down. There is a bit of a chemical-type smell from the exhaust, and the current fuel consumption goes from 0.8L to 1.1L when idling (in my car). With my car, the exhaust sound also gets a bit louder but once again you only really notice it if you are listening for it. I manually trigger 98% of my regens on my SQ5 with the Carista device because I find if I leave the car to do it by itself, it always seems to start a regen when you are 5 mins away from home and then you have to drive around pointlessly for 15 mins to let the regen run its course. Take this morning for example, I had to drive my wife to the airport which is about 20 mins away. The DPF was about 90% full so not due to do a regen for another 50-80kms or so, but I manually triggered a regen on my way back from the airport as its perfect conditions (80-100kph motorway and no traffic lights).

Also, if you happen to turn the engine off when a regen is in progress, the engine fans will be running flat out and will continue to run for 15-20 mins. This is done to blow hot air over the exhaust as the exhaust gets very hot during the regen process. You can also feel the heat coming off the exhaust as it is very hot.
