If they do, it shouldn't be called the GLI. 'GLI' in Australia refers to low rent transport - think Lancer and Civic GLI of the 90s.
Either way, I hope that the rumoured Jetta R with a VR6 engine becomes a reality. Could very possibly become my next car if they release one in coupe form!
Considering the GLI is the 147TSI with a different face, it wouldn't make it completely redundant. They should offer a GLI "package" for the 147 that would include the skirts, grill, headlights and the wheels. Some cherry red tail lights wouldn't kill either!Quote:
