    Post Smash Repair Baseline Photos

    Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if someone would be so kind to provide some close up shots of a Jetta 118TSI ?

Just got the car back from the smash repairs but the crease lines on the car is all stuffed up. GRRRR

Im gonna try and provide some photos so they know what it should look like.
It might help other owners get a good job on their car too!

Maybe just a set of the crease lines of the bonnet, front bar, lights, door and grille...

    Thanks!!!

By crease lines do you mean panel gaps?
If so, the shop will know exactly how they are supposed to fit, but will have found it too hard.
I seem to remember the headlights in particular being a bit fiddly to get right, but if they couldn't get the bonnet etc lined up right then there might be issues underneath.
Did they replace the radiator support? If that isn't on straight they will never get the bonnet/lights lined up.

Not sure how they can mess up the door gaps though. Sounds like they just got lazy

Yeah sorry, i meant Panel gaps.
It looks like a really lazy job or an apprentice with no oversight from experience tech. Or they were rushing it.

Radiator supports were supposed to be replaced.

Long story short, hit a small-medium kangaroo at about 60-70 which took out headlights, bonnet, bumper and shifted a qtr panel.

List of things i will have to follow up with repairer

    Bonnet
    1. Top of the driver’s side bonnet is uneven compared with passenger side front quarter panels
    2. Drivers and passenger side bonnet(bottom) is uneven with the front quarter panels
    3. Scratch on drivers side bonnet near hinge
    4. Scratches under the bonnet near firewall

    Bumper
    5. Both drivers’ side and passenger side bumpers do not fit with quarter panels.
    6. Finish of the bumper, lower lip, centre is rough and inconsistent
    7. Finish of the bumper, mid-section, passenger side is inconsistent
    8. Underneath drivers side light is scratched finish
    9. Bumper is generally painted and finished poorly

    Side Door
    10. During quotation it was noted that the nick on the door would be fixed because the quarter panel have moved and obstructed/scratched the door.

    Driver’s quarter panel
    11. Drivers side quarter panel has a very large scratch

    General issues
    12. Over spray on 80% of the car which was recently polished and waxed.
    13. Fragrance used in a car that is 5 months old as a result there is no more new car smell.

Sounds like a dodgy job in general. Did you go through insurance? Most companies guarantee their repairs.

I'd be giving the repairer a chance to fix their mistakes, but if it still isn't any good you can go to your insurance company and demand that it goes to another repairer to sort it out. Your original repairer really doesn't want this to happen, so they should do it right this time.

For the record when you take it, back the front "quarter panel" is called a front "guard"

EDIT: Sorry, missed your previous post. Turns out you did go through insurance
