Hi all, my first post on this forum (technically second, after the newbie intro post). I picked up a new 155 Highline Sport from a dealer in Brisbane with a faulty MIB II unit. This issue has been acknowledged by the dealer when I took the car back a couple of days later. They have ordered in a new unit, which apparently has to come from Germany and the vehicle has been booked in for early next week.
So the problem with the unit is that it keeps restarting every 2-3 minutes, even when its off (I have the clock to display when the unit is turned off). It gets really annoying since you cant even listen to radio without constant restarts every 2-3 mins. I have done a bit of investigation and this doesn't seem to happen in undercover car parks or places where it cannot get a GPS fix. So my question is. Is there a way that I can disconnect the GPS antenna or is it part of the same antenna as the radio, in which case is there an easy way to disconnect the antenna as I can always stream radio through the phone. Alternatively, are there any suggestions on how I could potentially block the car from getting a GPS lock. I read somewhere that aluminium mesh and aluminium foil could block it, but would like to get your opinions on it.
Thanks, DJ
