Brad, I had the cracked piston issue and it was thankfully repaired under warranty. I believe once repaired they are ok as they use better parts.....thoughts ?. ( always use 9

I'm told the new pistons are better but the root cause is lean fuel/air ratio. if the root cause isn't fixed then I'd think you are just extending the time between failures. Good excuse to get a remap that fixes the A/F ratios I guess.

My Jetta is an April 2014 model and has 180,000 ks on the clock with no issues. Done servicing as per the handbook with the exception of engine oil and filter change every 7,500ks. Used RON95 80% of the time and 98 the rest. Do I need to replace the timing belt at some stage. I thought they were good for the "life of the engine" What does that mean?

belt or chain? chain should last the life of the engine, if it has a belt it would have shredded by 180,000km
