    Post Jetta TDI Servicing

Hi everyone. Im still pretty new to VWW so i'm not sure if i'm posting in the correct place.

    I've got a 2012 TDI Jetta (DSG) and it's 2 year/30,000km service is due.
So far i've clocked up 21,000km's and I got a couple of quotes from dealers with the best being $541.
They reckon this service requires a brake flush and Pollen Filter.

Is this a reasonable price? Also what are your experiences?
    Btw im in Melbourne's West.

    Many thanks in advance!

sounds about right. i paid $500 plus my own oil for the 30 000 kms service. 2011 mk6 gti. its a bit steep in my opinion but thats vw servicing and it had to be done.

avoid VW themselves and go to a Euro person in your area, my car has just had its 45,000 service. first 2 cost $275 and last one was $ 195... and the car is brilliant! shop around!

I did that to my regret. After having incorrect oil put in it and then having to drive an hour to get correct oil and new filter and pay local garage to change it again I now go to a dealer and supply my own Penrite oil.

Had Jmac do one for me but we are a bit far away unfortunately or would go back to him.

Also with a DSG car it pays to cultivate relationships with a dealer in case of problems down the track.

The last dealer service wasn't that much more than an outside garage anyway.

Pollen filter every 2 yrs/30,000km but every 12 months is better. It's a $30 genuine part (tops) - you can get them for <$20 on ebay & it takes 15 minutes maximum to change including getting a rag & attempting to clean out inside the housing & vacuuming all the leaves & seed pods off the floor.

Brake flush every 2 years. If they do it properly it's a 45m-1hr job & uses 2L of fluid but it can be done with 1L & 20-30m if you cut corners a little bit.

My independant guy would charge $330 for the service; $95 brake fluid & $35 pollen filter

VW recommend changing the brake fluid and pollen filter every 2 years, price sounds reasonable from the dealer.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I took it in on Thursday and was pretty satisfied overall with the dealership. Even though my car doesn't really qualify for capped-price servicing, the price I was quoted was exactly the same as if it did.
Going back in two weeks for some warranty work on the rear door rubbers (headlining and plastic trim is coming apart on the 'c' pillar and stitching on the back seat is also coming apart.)
