    Jetta 118TSI Clutch/DSG Issue

    Hi all,

I've had my 2012 Jetta now for just over a year. Purchased it brand new. A couple weeks after the 1 year service I noticed the car has been a bit jerky for the first 5 minutes of my drive each morning. It changes gear then makes a kind of boom then jolts forward, kind of like a hop? I mostly noticed going from 3 to 4 and then occasionally 4 to 5. After I hit the main road and have been cruising at 60 for a couple minutes it seems to have gone away and it's as smooth as ever.

It seems like some sort of cold start issue but it never really occurred prior to the service. I was pretty much around 14,000KM when I took it in for the 1 year service and have just passed 15K. Coming home from work I haven't really noticed, but it does sit out in the sun all day..

Not sure if it's related but since the service the gear ratio seemed to be slower. Was shifting up to D6 at ~56KM/h compared to ~59KM/h prior to service. This isn't a big deal to me but they must have changed something?

Anyway, as I'm not very car savvy I have no idea how to explain the issue to the service centre, is it a clutch? DSG? Or can I do something in my driving habits to 'clean' it?

    Thanks for any advice!

If you noticed it immediately after the service then i'd say that the service centre did a software update/alteration on your DSG.

Actually, does your car fall under the DSG recall scheme that is currently in place? If so, then they may have updated the necessary items on your DSG (to which some people are reporting harsh gear changes after the recall).

Monitor it over the next few weeks; you may notice it return to normal after 2 weeks.

    Cheers for the replies.

I saw another thread that said to give it a 'spirited' drive in S mode. I did that on the way home and it seemed very smooth this morning. Will continue to monitor and hopefully it stays good!

    Thanks again.
