Had it on the Golf, no noticeable difference.

It only fixes a rare problem where some people stopped for a long time in P and were then unable to shift into R.

Oh ok. I thought it affected shift points as well. Other users seem to find the dsg shifts later now with 7th engaging nearer 70 kph as opposed to 58 kph before.

Is the update mandatory for you guys or would a customer have to make a specific complaint?

That might've been a different optional upgrade. This one came with a recall sticker added inside the driver door hinge area next to the old 118TSI engine recall software update.

My car still revs at 1100rpm in a high gear instead of shifting down. I spend a lot of time in Manual mode as a result.

Have had the update for 3 mths ( see signature). Shift points for me increased from approx. 58 kph to 7o kph for 7th gear and down shifts earlier as required. Made it zippier at the expense of fuel economy and less relaxed driving, especially around town. Also experiencing more 2nd gear starts, thus more noticeable clutch judder. Personally I liked it more before.

I got this update too and now my 2nd gear is shuddering.

That sucks. That's disturbing actually. Ziggy your car isn't much older than mine right? i.e less than a year old?

Luckily that's a warranty fix for both of you guys but the number of owners experiencing this judder is disconcerting. What happens out of warranty.

I had my first service recently (15k) and it hasn't shuddered since. I had it serviced at a VW specialist and not a dealership so there wouldn't have bene any software/recall updates.

But as someone pointed out my gearbox is shifting to 7th at around 78kph.

After only 8000km starting to get juddering in 2nd gear below 30 kph when accelerating...particularly uphill. Haven't even done first service yet.

Seriously, this is becoming a joke. I don't hate my car or VW, and I'm not even saying they're unreliable but these issues aren't particularly signs of reliability.

I first came on to this forum before buying my jetta so I don't fall into the category of "people who only go online to whinge". You also came on here MONTHS before taking delivery and the chances of both of us just happening to end up with the 1% of people having issues is slim.
