Looking at a 2015 jetta with the 118 tsi dsg combination. Given its now been several years since the issues with this combination Im hoping vw would have gone to great lengths to eliminate the problems or are people still experiencing issues even with models made from 2014 onwards?

They haven't gone to great lengths & have generally withdrawn the twincharger from other models in the range.

    You will regret the decision

Thats disappointing! I just drove the 2ltr and 2.5ltr versions of the mazda 3 and thought both engines were very dull, especially the 2ltr. I have a friend who sells volkswagens and he says they have changed components in the latest versions of the car which were causing all the problems. Still, not sure why they didn't swap over to the 1.4 turbo engines on the latrst Jettas.

If he sells VWs then he would say it was all fixed, wouldn't he? They are trained to only give good news. Maybe ask a Mazda salesman if the VWs have been fixed yet.

When I was working at a car dealers the sales staff never came anywhere near the workshop unless they wanted to borrow a screwdriver to fit some plates (they always looked so sad when you said "no"). They would have no clue whatsoever about any technical changes to the vehicles & if there were less warranty issues now than 2 years back. They just make it up as they go along.

Go and buy an Octavia - all the engines are good.

The Mazdas need a good rev to get some interest out of them.
