VCDS Lite Error in Remote Control Key adaptation.

I have a registered/activated VCDS lite and I was trying to help a friend to match his remote control key.

When he bought the car he only has a valet key.

When I tried to do ADAPTATION 10 and go to channel 1 I get error messages on the fields. It say Error channel 1 Not Available.

Am I restricted to do adaptation function on VCDS Lite or does the error mean there is no keyless function installed on the car?

Where did the remote come from?

I believe he bought it on Ebay part number 1JO 959 753 N
He drives a 1999 Golf Mk4 1.8L non turbo.

Early MK4s only had a basic transponder key, with a seperate remote.

I'm going to assume that it's not supported.
