Kiaorana: hello again and congratulations on your new purchase. I'd be honoured to include you into my "newbie" training class, but it might be a bit of a drive (south)!! Just between you and me, I find training "newbies" very enlightening- they invariably ask the most interesting questions. I always end-up learning more than the trainee!!
First-off and before you do any tweaks, I suggest that you make an auto-scan report to record the coding strings in all the control modules in your car (i.e. as set by the factory). Then make a complete database of your car's adaptation channel settings in their "virgin" state (there will be over 3,000 adaptation channels in your car). I've written a short paper on how to do this which you can find in the VCDS reference thread.
After you have this data as a fall-back in case the brown stuff hits the fan - look through the websites listed on my reference thread and pick something simple to start - perhaps a tweak that changes a single Byte/Bit using the long coding helper screen. Then try a tweak that involves a single (or perhaps two) adaptation channel changes.
I suspect that you will learn fast and that pretty soon, you will be an avid contributor to this forum. And don't be scared to make mistakes - it's by far the best way to learn - most errors can be fixed by rolling-back the change that you made!
Good luck and don't hesitate to ask questions here - I've found lots of folk on this forum willing to help out (and some here have a truly awesome knowledgebase where VCDS cables are concerned)
Cheers
Don
PS: And please, ALWAYS keep accurate records of the changes that you make. If you are not comfortable with the written word, use the clipboard on your laptop to take a picture of the screen. And don't forget the "Add to Log" button on RT's software - it places a text file on your laptop detailing the change that you just made. You might find the record keeping process tedious, but this information will be invaluable when (not if) the tweak goes pear-shaped.

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.
