You can change the steering feel via VCDS as well. I'm currently on Program 21 (SEAT Ibiza) which has a heavier feel at slower speeds.
    Default for GTI is 41

If you're after a constant weight to the wheel try program 20 (9N Polo GTI)
If you want a super light city car feel try program 51 (Audi A1)

Yes, but don't understand why you would when it's one of the defining features of the car, but that's just me. Not sure where it is located but the dealerships can do it so I'm sure VCDS can.

Nope - just been to dealership and was advised that it's "permanent" - cannot be disabled. Doesn't sound right to me so I thought I'd ask here.

Im not a fan of the idea either, but it's good to have options. It's in the Central Electronics Module -> Coding -> Byte 23 -> Bit 6.
They will still be on in park and full mode.

Thanks for the info. Would it be possible to turn this on/off without reprogramming? The manual describes a procedure via the indicator stalk to enable/disable, but this doesn't seem to work with the Bi-Xenon lights. Something about the Bi-Xenons being different to the standard lights.

readerr0r: Whilst all that you say in your post is perfectly logical, the values that I got from my Polo 6R are very different. I assume that your screen shot came from a different version of the Polo 6R to mine (mine is a 77TSI comfortline with comfort pack and reverse sensors - my14). But I don't think that this matters for the purpose of this discussion.

Anyhow, my Polo has DRLs active (I think they are a second set of filaments in the low-beam lamps). I haven't done any tweaks on the vehicle yet - it's brand new (I've only read the module controllers and taken screen shots). The default values on my Polo for Byte 23 are as shown below:

As you can see, Bit 6 is not ticked, but I can assure you that DRLs are activate on my Polo. I appologise for the impertinence of the following question, but have you actually tried to deactivate the DRLs on your car by getting rid of the tick on Bit 6? If so, did it actually work? The reason that I ask is because I want to de-activate DRLs on my Polo but clearly I can't do this through toggling the status of bit 6 (on my car).

Please don't PM to ask questions about coding, or vehicle repairs. The better place to deal with these matters is on-line, in the forum proper. That way you get the benefit of the expertise of the wider forum! Thank you.

I'm assuming that this doesn't increase the amount of feedback you get through the wheel, just the weighting?

Correct, just the weighting of the steering.

Nope, This doesn't work on australian delivered vehicles at all, unless they have changed the software in the last 6 months for it.
