    Updated Can Gateway from 1K0 907 530 F to 1K0 907 530 AD still draining battery!?

    Hey all,

I know this issue has been bashed to death on every forum in the world, but im wondering if anyone has had the same issue with thier Can Gateway upgrade.

After installing an RCD 510 and upgrading the Gateway from 1k0 907 530 F to the 1K0 907 530 AD, im still getting the infamous battery drain.

All coding was copied via VCDS on the installation list as well the long coding but no luck.

I did somehow get it where the RCD510 unit displayed something about "battery drain", but I have not been able to replicate that again and now its back to its old problem.

Do I just assume its a dud and go for the latest releaes 7N0 907 530 H gateway?

Thanks in advance and please let me know if this has been covered already as i have searched high and low..

    Cheers.

What software version is it? You should see the 4 digit number in the vcds, something like 0170.

That should be compatible. Did you measure the battery drain? You could remove the fuse from the radio for a few days to make sure that it's the radio that cause the drain. How old is the battery? It could also be that your battery doesn't hold the charge.

I have actually had the battery replaced due to the constant drain and have been doing the fuse thing for months now.
Takes a couple of days before it drains it totally.
I only just had the micro can cable udgraded and delivered few days ago and installed the new gateway yesterday flat again this morning.
It should shut down after 15min?

    Hey

Did you solve this problem? I am having the same problem; however, after installing a 7N0 gateway... still getting battery drain over the course of 2 weeks.

hey, i don't know if this will help but i have heard if you have a factory installed amplifier you don't need to update the canbus. It won't have a battery drain if you just plug the stereo in rather than updating the canbus. Obviously if you don't have a factory amp this doesn't apply.

The safest way is to check if the diagnostic interface need a software update and get it updated or replaced.

digging this up... has this been resolved??
everywhere I have read bar 2 ppl say the 1K0 907 530 AD gateway works fine.
I have a 10/2005 mk5 golf. just installed rcd510 and the above gateway however the headunit can be switched on at anytime. IE: seems like it has no switched power going to the head unit. <---- is this the batt drain issue

the gateway was programmed with a snap on tool. is their further coding within the gateway module that I'm not seeing with a scan tool?

Head unit power is always available - so you can then it on without ignition. That is normal. Drain happens because unit doesn't get correct shut down signal when ignition is off and stays in intermediate state.
