    Re coding canbus errors

    Hi Guys,

I've recently bought a VAGCOM cable from ross-tech, to do some recoding for the canbus and RNS-510 which will replace the MFD2 in my MKV GTI.

I looked into this change over and ordered a new canbus after reading about the power drain issues.
    I ordered a 1K0907530AD canbus.
But received a 7N0907530C canbus (which is the successor?)

I'm wondering if this will be a problem?

As when I changed the canbus over today, I was't able to enter the same longcode as my old one, I kept getting a Error:22
My old code was 14 characters long and the new canbus is only accepting 6.

    Is there something I'm missing?
Or should I just ask to be sent a 1K0907530AD canbus?

    Thanks,
    Lee

The long code changes module to module.
Plug in your old canbus module and go into the installation list and take note of all the ticked boxes. Install the new canbus and copy over the installation list.

I did this and the only difference was not being able to select 00 - Steering Angle Sensor on the new canbus.
It has Steering Sensor instead at a different number (I'll check it tomorrow)

Can the canbus be locked at all? needing a code or something?

Just accept the coding that is there, only make sure that you selected right hand drive in coding. The coding will still be 6 digits. The new can gateway most likely does the thing differently.

Details here http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...tml#post776092 incl. location and how to replace the cangateway in less than 10 minutes.
