MIB updated - Camera coding ?

Updated my SIL's Discovery Media on the 90TSI MK7 Golf (MY14) from non carplay/android auto unit (5.8" screen) to a later MIB2 unit (6.8") screen over the weekend.

The new unit is working perfectly, other than the camera (which is plugged in and still responding to reverse gear selection) not displaying and the car image still being that of the (presumed) donor (looks like a Sharan).

Anybody have the coding to enable the RVC and to change the car image handy? Where should I being to look?

BTW, have VCDS (preferred) and OB11 available to do the coding, just did not have it with me when we swapped the screen and box out yesterday.

@Sharkie: Hi.

Hmm...... as for the RVC not working - I assume that this mk7 has a bog-standard low-line version camera installed, meaning that the car does NOT have the version RVC that has its own module (connected @ address hex6C on the CAN network).

If so, it could be (I'm guessing, of course) that the donor car might have had the high-line version RVC installed. If so, the software switch in the long-code string that tells the MIB to operate a RVC will be deactivated (because the camera is controlled by the separate hex6C module for the high-line RVC).

So, I suggest that you check Byte 19, Bit 4 - see below:


For the "car image" - this is a tad more tricky because the MIB's understanding of what type car it is installed-in and how to display the image depends on the settings in a few Bytes. So, rather than me guessing - it's probably better if you post-up the long-code strings for both the old and new MIB units (look at an old SCAN for the long-code on the original MIB).

Car image for Golf is 027300 for first 3 bytes of 5F coding.
If Byte 19 for RVC low is checked and still no RVC image, you need to check adaptations.
If the donor vehicle had a highline RVC then it will have the VPS (visual parking system) enabled. Turn this off.

Thanks Guys, much appreciated. Fixed this last night.

RVC Low was not ticked in byte 19, so fixed that, RVC working now

Golf image fixed with 027300 (incidentally was 027309 and looked like a Sharan but shorter, Golf Plus maybe) in the 1st 3 bytes.

While I was in there, I changed the skin as well. Colour palette much better from the weird orange/yellow colour to a cool blue.
