That might explain why a mate of mine was offered $31K on-road for a new 118TSI Octavia liftback on the weekend by Northshore Skoda. That's an offer he is going to take if he can convince his missus, who can't seem to let go of her fixation on Japanese cars!!
Oh, also saw a silver FL RS liftback on the corner of Gt Western Hwy and Russell St, Emu Plains approx. 10.30am yesterday morning.... lookin good!
I'll be interested in confirmation or otherwise regarding Jarvins - although I suppose they have a responsibility to tell me who'll service of they're quitting the franchise. They never really seemed committed, with an afterthought showroom - and with the range now, it's hard to see how they couldn't make a go of it.
If they do go, Skoda is pretty much dead in the eastern Sydney, at least south of the river. Over the bridge, especially to St Leonards is a big psychological barrier, and Blacktown is that plus distance.....
But a new dealer elsewhere would be OK
Brilliant Silver Octavia Scout 2010
When Paul Wakling Skoda went, I got a letter from them telling me I would be contacted by Skoda Aust. re servicing etc. Many weeks later I have recieved nothing. Its a worrying trend, but it must be hard for dealers to try and sell cars that aren t in stock, when other manufactorers have stock siting in holding yards ready to go.
Just went to the Steve Jarvin website, according to that they are just relocating their showroom not closing. Maybe its just a rumour ?

2014 MY14 Corrida Red Elegance Wagon TDI
2009 MY10 Race Blue RS Wagon TSI 6 sp. manual. (Gone)
2011 MY12 Yeti 77 TSI DSG.
Sorry to hear that they are going under - but based on my experience i am not surprised.
I have no problem with a smaller number of dealers as long as the ones we have are commited to the product and the customer base.
I appreciate that not everyone will have this opinion out there, but everyone has an opinion right!

There seems to be quite a few dealers in Sydney compared to elsewhere, maybe due to being closer to Skoda/VW HQ? Skoda knew full well that delays in stock would cost them which is why they had special dispensation for more stock when they launched....that all went well until the Skoda factory slowed down production for the GFC and have never caught up since.
It's just teething issues and the brand settling in. For the next couple of years dealerships will come and go and after 5 years or so the better dealers will start to rise above the rest and they will become the basis for a strong and vibrant dealer network.
Every brand has been through this process.
The boss of Steve Jarvin Skoda was already at North Shore working out the details back in July. I don't think it is a growing trend. North Shore, amongst others are going really well from what I heard.
As K1W1 said, it's just teething issues. It will all be worked out in the end.
Back on topic.
I saw three other Skodas yesterday, two that I see regularly and a third absolutely brand spanking new silver Octavia hatch. The guy was pulled over in a side street and appeared to be reading. I'm guessing he was on his way home from the dealer and looking at the user manual to figure out how something worked.
Spotted a dark grey (silver) Roomster today at about 8.30 on Burwood rd in Hawthorn. Quite often I see a black pre FL RS wagon at the Swinburne uni building site temp HQ as well.
