My Stage 2 Mk2 Fabia vRS

Thought i would knock up a build thread for my car. Im keen to see what you ozzies are doing, your normally pretty far ahed with the modification scene.

    Starting spec + options
    2011 Fabia vRS 1.4TSI (180) DSG7
    Heated seats
    Climate control
    Cruise control
    Black alloys
    Black Roof

Had it dyno'd with only 192 miles on the clock
180ps=177hp, so pretty muhch bang on the money

Speaking to Ben @ Shark Performance and he asked me if he could use the golf cart as the development car in exchange for a free remap (only 800 miles on the clock ) but i went for it.

Took it up to him, but was on a tight schedule, and ended up leaving the car with him for a couple weeks, and leaving in his wives 1.8T A4 Avant, no longer with plans of just going stage 1, instead we went going for a decat OEM downpipe and a slightly water down stage 2 map.

    Dyno'd again on DD rollers.

Red Curve = Stock software with Decat OEM downpipe
Blue curve = Stage 1+/2 remap with decat OEM downpipe

Chuffed to bits with the gains although not 100% on the accuracy of the torque as it was substantially higher on those DD rollers compared to my most recent run @ JKMs DD rollers.

Whilst at JKm i decided to fit my new black front grill surround

    Before:

    After:

Bought a Forge intake from Jason on SCN for the tidy sum of £80, and a spare OEM downpipe to stay legal when not on track.

Most recent rolling road day from JKM

Also got marginally better figures than an Ibiza Cupra with stage 2 revo & full TBE on the day as well *as well, so considering his outlay of around £1700 im chuffed to bits with my results for what is only a total of £80 outlay by myself.

Got invited to turn up on Shark Performances Stand at GTI International, so i popped her 1/4 mile cherry, and spent a fair wack of money going up and down the strip. *Weather wasnt ideal on the saturday, nice and cool, but with the headwind and sporadic rain. *Not 100% happy with my times compared to the 1.4TSI 1/4 mile leaderboard we have but they are all times from crail and santa pod, so not sure how comparable. *On the day she seemed to be holding her own anyway.

Got spanked by a twin turbo R32 with circa 500hp, i saw his 1/4 time flash up by the time i had got the the electronic notice board halfway up *
    Beat
    Mk2 leon cupra stage 2,
stripped out mk2 Golf with VR6 engine,
    Stage 2 De-DPF vRS stage 2,
    Justins stage 2+ GTI twice,
Stage 3 mk1 Fabia twice amongst a few others. *

Heres some of the results of the day

Me against a stage 3 Mk1 Fabia vRS with hybrid turbo etc etc. Mine is the one on the right.

Me and nick perry in his stage 2 De-DPF Octavia vRS

Been looking into some weight loss options today. *Thinking about the braile battery you have bought *

    Potential savings

3kg/corner for wheels so circa 12kg saving
lighter front *brake calipers/discs around 2.5kg per corner lighter so circa 5kg saving
Remove the weight ballast in rear bumper 25kg saving
    Lighter battery 15kg saving
    Supercharger sound-proofing 2.5kg

So everyday weight saving of 59.5kg

Thne for 1/4 mile and track days the rear seats, spare tyre, and tool kit are 49.5kg so potentially 100kg of weight loss which should make quite a difference.

Here's some pictures of my last track day, not managed any more yet as I've been mega busy in kenya, can't see me getting many next year either tbh.

Some comedy body roll for you

And me in the gravel trap at Yentwood

This is about 10% of the gravel that was there. *Had gravel inside the subframe, brakes, calipers, suspensipn, undertra etc etc. *took ages to clean out

Originally the plan was to initially get an intercooler fitted, and an uprated radiator after xmas when funds allow, but Pace products have decided to the full R&D for both now and they are now being developed on my car as i write this.

This is how she is looking now and its not a pretty sight:

Plastic end tanks will be replaced with alloy which is great for cooling.

I guess this is the new core. *He said they plan on the core being 10 mm thicker and 45 mm taller, which combined with the new alloy end tanks should make a fairly large difference.

Cool ride vRSy, i like the little Fabia's. Nice little video as well - shame that once you pull away from the camera car, that your car is hidden by the camera cars dangling rear visor ornament....

We don't have the RS available in Australia yet, at this point in time we only have the base model 1.2T 77TSI and the newly released "MonteCarlo" which is still a 1.2T 77TSI but has black wheels, black roof, different seats, bodykit etc etc. Meet the new ?KODA Fabia - Small with balls.

Apparently we will soon get the 1.4T (90kw) model and also the 1.4T+S "RS" model like yours. Question - did they have any issues tuning your ECU? Im wondering if the ECU was "protected" and needed to be physically removed from the vehicle in order to apply the tuned file?

Reason i as i that my younger brother just yesterday took delivery of a Fabia 77TSI and he wants to tune it in the next month or two (once its got a couple thousand km's on it).

    Thanks.

Not sure there is such a beast as a 1.4t 90KW Fabia. Engine range is similar to Polo.
1.4VRS is the same as the Polo GTI drivetrain. So, the same procedure to reflash the Polo GTI will apply to the vrS

Nice toy you have there. Those heated seats will likely be weighing you down a bit.

There are times when i look at it and think it looks like a golf cart lol, but its a great little car. I came from a mk2 Octavia vRS running stage 2+ and 280hp, and i don't feel this fabia as being any slower despite being 70hp/100lbft down on power.

Ah, but its worth it. Its absolutely freezing here now, and heated seats work a treat. Instant heat. Were not blessed with your weather

It was encrypted and had to have the Ecu opened in order to get flashed.
