I have no idea what you mean by "RRP from Skoda". Skoda HQ have no control over what the dealerships charge, nor do they have any standard or recomended service times. It's totally up to what the dealer thinks the market can stand.

That was the dealers words. I know Skoda don't control prices, so it was amusing to see them try to reflect good value in their quote by undercutting the imaginary RRP.

You are profile just says "Australia" so I can't make a recomendation as to what your alternatives might be.

Thanks anyway. I have sussed out a local independent with good feedback from friends and family.

PS: you never actually said how your service differed from the service book. What did they miss/add?

Just little things from memory like the replacement of the particulate filter. If I specifically ask for just a 'logbook service' I don't think it is unreasonable to expect work completed as per the logbook and not some other list the customer never sees.

The service manager at Trivetts forwarded me their service items which I can upload if you are curious.

Pugdriver: congrats! Manual wagons are not terribly common on the market at the moment, especially within the VAG stable.

Maybe he means Cabin/Pollen filter? They are every 2 yrs in the service book but in AUS I'd do it every 12 months or at least pull it out & wash & dry it (which ruins the carbon particles but makes it clean). The are cheap anyway - about $18 last time I bought one.

I had a similar problem trying to get my Fabia Monte Carlo manual serviced in Canberra. The Lennock service department quoted $470 and they wouldn't explain why. It was a pity really because the purchase of the car was a good experience.
Luckily I managed to find a local VW/Audi/Skoda specialist (VW Canberra Centre) who did it for a shade under $300. I had a look at the cars they were servicing, and they were all top notch and new: Audi A5, Passat and a few Golfs-so they knew what they were doing.

They also, on my request, set all the doors to unlock with one press of the key fob instead of two.

It definitely pays to shop around for a good service department. Judging from the issues everyone is having, Skoda really needs to bring in capped price servicing-rogue dealer workshops are ruining Skoda's image.
