There has been several map updates, 2 in fact since I got the car in Jun 2017.
One in Nov 2017, and the last one was Mar 2018.
Go to the link provided above and u should see it.
Tis a 22gig download and u will need an sdcard.

Regarding the door trim, yes, it's shame they simply don't use the bits from the MY17 parts bin and resolve the problem once and for all.

Regarding local infrastructure service/support - don't forget VW Aus is runs and owns Skoda here in Aus. Every thing from planning, to sales, to warranty, to service is dictated by VW Aus.

Everywhere else, Skoda make their own decisions, guided and deal with VWaG directly.
In NZ, an importer, not VW NZ, controls and manages Skoda.

Is the glovebox a known issue? Every now and then I've noticed the Scout glovebox isn't perfect and it needs a good thump to shut it. Previous MY16 Ambition Plus Octavia had no such issue. Annoying, but not annoying enough to warrant reorganising my life for a trip to the dealer....

I love the the car as a driver, but I'm not likely to buy another Skoda, unless SKODA Australia/VGA decide to actually support their product, not just sell them.
I dislike Trivett with a passion - sales were brilliant, service not so much. I use Alto for servicing and they've been fine (after Subaru everyone is an improvement). But I wouldn't buy a car from Alto - as an example, I ended up car shopping with the parents for their new car - both Audi and Skoda (at both Alto locations) didn't think they were serious enough, and Audi wouldn't even provide a test drive unless you were buying today. Hence the new BMW in their garage....

Sorry to get OT but that's my current feeling. They're a brilliant car let down by VGA and for that reason alone I'd be hesitant to buy another one. Scout is going to be around for a while but the service (and the fact that the Scout is now gone from their lineup) likely rules out Skoda for me next time. Shame really - love the car and the way they drive.

    Thanks dArkSHaDOw.
I've checked the VIN for updates & had the dealer do the same. It shows an update, but the thing is exactly the same version already on board. If the dealer as recently as 3 weeks ago confirms there is no more recent update for my car than the one installed, I'm left up shippppp creek.
VW Australia are just wasted space. Skoda Australia doesn't really exist. Its just a virtual entity in VW Australia, as you say, so no point contacting the dead letter office again. I've written directly to Skoda management in Prague, with the assistance of my Czech BiL. Lets see if I get any response.

Here's the portal response. I'm left to wonder if it recognizes my VIN correctly. Or if there is something odd about the Columbus unit in my car.
    Maps and software updates
    Maps
There were no maps for the VIN
    Other software
There were no software updates for the VIN.

Is there a way to circumvent the update portal, to access the March 18 download mentioned?

stange that it says u don't have any map updates.
can u check in ur infotainment wat version u currently have in the car?

when i got mine last year, it had v0062 2017 maps.
then i had an update, which brought it up to v0065 2017/2018.
the last update i got was v0068 2018, or MRM 2018 as shown in the update portal. see screenshot.

it is likely ur VIN has not been put on the database by ur dealer to be eligible for updates - hence why nothing is showing up for ur VIN.

Yes, I've checked the version mate. It is still the original; dated 2015/2016.

I'll ask Thompson to investigate the registration of the VIN. It could well be the case ex-Trivet. No point asking VW/Skoda Australia anything. I've raised the question of no updates with them already. The Customer Experience Ambassador SKODA Australia, replied without any reference to the question at all & subsequent follow up is just ignored. Zero customer service.

Do you know, Trivet actually tried to deliver me the wrong model car, On the original delivery day, they had a 162, not a 206 & hadn't even noticed. It tells you just what a mug lot they were. Their delivery was no more than a wash & screw on the plates. That might be why I never heard from Skoda after purchase!

yeah, given that Trivet couldn't tell the difference between a 162 and a 206, and more importantly delivery u the wrong one - i won't b surprised that haven't even registered ur VIN in the skoda portal over at HQ.

that's beyond piss poor on their part, and dissapointing response ur getting from Skoda Customer Service.

with regards to getting the maps updated on ur car, i don't know if its possible to borrow some else's sdcard with the maps downloaded, and load it up into ur unit.
as its just updating the maps and not the firmware, i don't think they'd b any issues.

next time i'm in sydney, i can bring the MRM2018 maps on an sdcard for you to try.

Greatly appreciated mate, but I need to get this resolved to ensure I don't miss out on important software updates or recalls, like the one I know VW/Skoda has been ordered to undertake for the Takarta airbags fitted to our cars.
My VIN is listed on the ACCC website, as will yours, I expect.

This is the Skoda Customer Ambassador's response on that front:

The Australian Government will require a mandatory recall of certain vehicles with frontal Takata airbag inflators to be carried out by 31 December 2020.
This will entail a staged recall of affected SKODA vehicles over the next three years. SKODA will contact owners to let them know when they should visit a dealer to have their Takata airbag inflator replaced.
No SKODA vehicle is fitted with an airbag from the Alpha population.
No new or current model SKODA variant is affected.
At this point your vehicle will have a recall applicable. We will contact all customer in relation to this accordingly.

very true - u still have an issue that needs fixing.
i had my car serviced (15k service) two weeks ago, and there was two (2) recalls performed:-
    1. to fix the headlight startup sequence
    2. to remove the phonebox signal booster

with regards to the airbag, vehicles not on the priority (alpha population) have until Dec 2019 to have the airbag replaced by the manufacturer.
hence the "don't call us, we'll call u" line.
    i'm definitely on the list.
at some point between now and Dec 2019 i'm expecting, actually hoping, VW will replace the airbag in my Skoda.

Hi, new member here. I'm curious as to why the signal booster was removed. I'm picking my my new (MY1 superb on Sunday and was considering buying the phonebox part with the wireless charging that's standard on MY18.5 models to fit to it.

Regarding the maps. I downloaded the maps in preparation for my car's arrival by using a VIN that I found on a carsales AD

    https://www.carsales.com.au/bncis/de...ngType=TopSpot

That let me download the appropriate maps (my car is a 2017 build MY18 car)

The Phone Signal Booster Skoda uses does not comply with Australian Design Rules and Regulations - hence it had to be disabled.
The Wireless Charging is a different thing, and is not affected by this.

previously, Phonebox = wireless charging + signal booster
now, Phonebox = wireless charging only
