Thinking of MY17 Superb 162TSI
Hey guys.. first time looking into VW group.. coming from MY14 Mazda 6.. Skoda Superb MY17 162TSI Wagon with the tech / comfort and image pack has caught our eye..
- Couldn't justify getting the 206TSI / Sportsline for 10k extra.. worth it? Don't really go offroad as 4x4 is the main thing I see.. Would have loved the sportsline in 162TSI
- Techie person - So getting ODBEleven be the one to get and enable loads of stuff like traffic etc? Does it void warranty when car goes for servicing?
- Any guide on how to use and codes working for Superb? and interesting stuff to toggle?
- Heard resale value is bad for skoda and the perception of the brand in Aus?
- Any recommended addons? thinking of mud flaps.. Sunshade for front mirror?
- Do any VW dealer service skoda?
- Is this MY17 a new release? I mean we heard that major changes happen every 3 years and 2016 was a major change for skoda so safe till 2019?
- Have to put 95 atleast in fuel not 91 right
- Not much colour choice between whites and blacks and one blue.. sad.. blue looks best i guess
More queries to come in soon perhaps..

1. I went from a Octavia 103 Wagon to Octavia RS162 Wagon (both manual) to Superb 206 Wagon (tech pack) and the BEST feature is the AWD especially in the wet. Used to get really sick of all the axle tramping in 1st and 2nd and even in the dry easy to wheelspin.
In the 206 fantastic grunt and no wheelspin/axle tramp just the occasional "chirp" .Is it a shame that it costs so much more though
2.I have always used 98 for all 3 -that is 1 slightly disappointing thing about the Superb -chews a fair bit more fuel -103 i got 7.5 ,RS 9.5 but 206 closer to 12 litres per 100 -all 3 are really nice cars though and i am very happy with Skoda after several VW golfs
Hope this helps
Regards

4. As for resale, I got the most burnt selling a 5yr old immaculate Lux Sport Mazda 6 hatch, ie the most popular version than I did on my 2008 RS Octavia which held its value well even though it was much older (8yrs old). Perception of the brand is increasing, resale being bad I think is a wrong rumour I've never seen any evidence.
8, the quality difference between 91 and 95 is like night and day. Its not just the octane. My Mazda 6 was 95 before Mazda decided dumb down the next model to 91. You get way more fuel issues running 91. My first Octavia was actually 98, and now they run on 95. I still use 98 anyway most of the time.
7. MY17 is what you can get now for another 2mths or so, then any new factory orders will be MY18, it would only be minor bits here and there if anything. The Superbs currents shape only arrived here around this time last year. So it might be some minor thing they add in. The biggest thing ie 5yr warranty has already kicked in this year which is bigger than any MY18.
6. Skoda dealers service them unless you are in a regional area where some VW dealers are the authorised service centre. Originally in 2007 more VW dealers did it.

I have a fully loaded MY17 206 4x4 and it is one of the best cars I have ever driven (I had a Holden Calais V, BMW 535 M Sport, Lexus GS350 and VW CC, and others). The 206 engine is impressive and very responsive. The Superb is not an off-road vehicle, the 4X4 is another name for Haldex AWD, something similar to some VW 4Motion and Audi Quattro cars. I can definitely say the car has an impressive grip on the road especially in wet (compared to my FWD CC). I don't think I will buy any other car that is not AWD.
I use BP Ultimate fuel, and I believe the sticker says it needs RON 98 fuel. I get around 9-10 L/100 KM when I drive nicely
There is a full thread on Briskoda about all the stuff you can enable.
Resale value, and that's only my personal opinion, all cars resale value is awful after 5 years. I believe the Skoda brand is getting better in Australia.
Good luck with your purchase.

So...
after much confusion we have jumped on the bandwagon.. Ordered a 162TSI Wagon Lava Blue with tech / image and comfort pack..
to be built.. 3-4 months wait atleast.. whats the average time ppl get their car in for builds?
Are any of these things recommended on accessories (was just going through superskoda)
1) Steel Pedal
2) Rubber Floor Mats
3) Luxury Door Sills
4) wind / rain deflector set
5) bumper protection panel
6) Front and back mud flaps
7) Paint Protection
8 ) Window tinting (As I understand back windows are privacy glass.. so either just the front two or the entire 4 front and back to get same shade)
9) Sunshades for front window
Will be getting OBDEleven as I am of the tinkering type.. Any recommendation where to buy from or any alternate device
Anything else I should think of??

Or you can buy a better VCDS tool from Ross Tech
