I wonder if anyone else has noticed that the advertised Drive Away price on the microsite is more than the normal pricing in. For example the microsite says $52,990 but my postcode's (2112 - NSW) Drive Away price is $51,900....That's abit weird...

That's easy :) The microsite lists the maximum drive away price across all states (different delivery & govt charges in each state... just think about what it might cost to ship a car to broome if you landed it in Sydney, but then NSW govt might charge more in taxes than the WA govt, etc). In other words, it's more expensive to buy a car in some states than others.
If you want to ponder something, ponder why dealer listed prices are higher than the maximum list price on the skoda site. Here's an example from a carsales victorian dealer, "2.0TDI ELEGANCE WAGON OPTIONED WITH METALLIC PAINT AND LEATHER INTERIOR." for $57,888. The pictures also show that it's got the bolero & not columbus.
According to skoda's site, the Elegance (which as I understand the new brochure comes with columbus & leather as standard) is recommended maximum $54,127.30 drive away in vic. So given the difference in the cost of columbus vs bolero, I can only assume that's about a $5k metallic paint job
Am I missing something? Did Skoda forget to tell the dealers the price & spec had changed? Why does it feel like someone's just taking the piss?
Park assist is standard on the Wagon only. The Elegance line also has standard Leather and Columbus sat nav, as mentioned previously. The first shipment batch only has the Bolero. Dealer informs me that customers who take the first batch will be compensated accordingly (ie a cash rebate).
The dealer did not have option pricing, but all should be revealed when the car is launched this week. The interesting options are Panoramic roof, KESSY and remote tailgate. Hopefully they won't cost an arm and a leg.
As someone actively shopping for a car it's pretty offputting to see the dealers pricing cars higher than the official max price. I'm afraid when you know the recommended price it leaves you with a bad first impression. I certainly walked out wondering.
I'm not sure about the remote boot thing. I find it's generally only handy to have the boot open when I'm back there putting things in/taking things out, so I'm just not sure what the use case is. Kessy feels like it should be standard fitment otherwise it's just a nice gimmic.
I actually feel like skoda aus has got the spec of the elegance right now, aside from perhaps the lack of a reversing camera which is pretty much standard fitment in the segment they're playing in, although I'm not sure they're even available.
I didn't get it at first, but then the penny dropped.:duh:

I'd hardly called the remote boot a Skoda innovation. Volvo have had one for over two years (XC70) and so have Audi (Q7). I'm sure there are others.
I do however think that it's a really cute TV ad.
I'm worried more it took you a while to figure it out......
Funny ad, but unless my packages/luggage start unloading & loading themselves then I don't see it as a particularly handy feature. Maybe if you had a dog? Or a man-servant when you pulled up in the drive, but then isn't your man-servant the ultimate remote control?
Although the brochure doesn't spell it out, I assume the automatic boot closing is part of the power tailgate option, which could be handy for the missus given it did seem to be quite heavy.

A $790 option is the electrically operated tailgate with automatic retractable luggage compartment cover that rolls back to the middle position upon opening for easy access.
No pricing on the other options as yet.
Skoda Superb wagon: first drive | Review | carsguide.com.au
"The 2.0TDI would be our pick for long distances. It’s amazingly quiet and frugal yet has plenty of mid-range urge to keep things interesting. We didn’t get a chance to try out the 118TSI but our experience in VWs and the Octavia have been favourable. The overall fit and finish of the Superb wagon was, well, superb.
The wagon is yet another brand builder that is clearly going to prove to many people that this Czech brand is no longer a poor cousin to its German parent."
"optional $370 extendable luggage floor and $140 automatic luggage cover release."
Now... just need an article to tell me the price of the glass roof :)
