    Superb Seat Comfort?

    Hi All

If I can find one small thing to complain about with my recently acquired 125TDI wagon, it's that the right hand side bolster on the driver's seat seems to rub on my right thigh area. It's almost as if the seat doesn't sit quite square with the wheel, and when I sit in a position that I think is straight behind the wheel, it's like I'm sitting an inch too far to the right and sitting on the edge of the seat too much.

Anyone else have this problem - and no, my rear end is not on the large size!

    Cheers

I find the seat comfort level hard to pinpoint too, I have played around with the numerous seating position and bolster movement and can't seem to find one that is perfect. I usually end up adjusting the seat during each trip depending on the mood i.e sometimes slouching is more comfortable than having the seat upright. I find the seat a little on the hard side but maybe that's because they are brand new and need to be worn in a little? My car is a 125TDI seadan.

Now that you mention it, I've noticed exactly the same thing. It's not particularly bothersome and like romaniac I tend to find myself shifting around and altering the seat settings randomly. Did a three-hour drive yesterday and I find that once you're on cruise-control you can move your right leg around with a bit more freedom. I'm thinking that the seat will soften up a bit over time, but with 25K on the clock it's still feeling like new.

While on the subject of comfort, there was some discussion early last year about the pros and cons of the panoramic sunroof in summer. Have to report that so far this summer excess heat through the glass is not a problem.
Skoda Superb Elegance Wagon 2.0 TDI DSG, Storm Blue Metallic, Glamour Ivory - Onyx floor, Panoramic roof, False floor, 3 spoke steering, Roller blinds, MDI, KESSY, Power tailgate, Tow bar - delivered and in service as of February 23rd. They didn't tell me there was no Bluetooth - grrrr.

In the interests of not driving obsessive compulsives nuts, I didn't want to mention this, but in the OCtys the seat isn't square on with the wheel. I think you will find the same thing with the Superb, they do it on purpose and I don't know why. But if you study where the wheel is I think you might find its offset slightly to one side....possibly the right from the problem you are describing.

In our RS one side of the bolster was always sticking into me...

Well, I only had my car for 4 days, but I've never found such problem within that 4 days. If anything I would say it's much more comfortable than the Yeti I'm driving now. The comment by my guest from USA when I still had the Superb was, everytime he sat in my car, he just wanted to doze off. And he really did!

Anyway, I find German cars all tend to be a bit firm on seats. So I don't think Skoda is any different, but at least Superb was comfortable to me.

    I miss my car.....

    Addition after 2 weeks:

After 2 weeks of driving the demo superb, I know what you are talking about. I wonder if it's because the seat is actually narrower than other luxury saloons.

After a week in my V6 Superb wagon I realise the seats in my old Audi quattro were rubbish. Such support I have not had since I had Recaros in my Dino 30 years ago. For some reason the Germans (and to a lesser extent, the French) offset the pedal box which makes you tilt your hips a bit. Luckily I am a "light" build guy and fit between the thigh bolsters nicely. Just filled the petrol tank for the first time (Lennock gave me a FULL tank to drive away) and pleasantly surprised.

    G'day all,
While I've found comfortable settings for myself, as a relatively new Superb owner, I do question the offset to the steering wheel & the alignment with the pedals. It is not the wheel which should be offset compared with the seat but the pedals. They're not ideally positioned in my opinion, but this appears to be because Skoda has had to compromise because of the inside front wheel arch & engine bay dictating a limit on ny offset in RHD cars. In original LHD layout this was probably not a problem, on transmission rather than wheel side.
    cheers

Offset? Two and a half years in a Superb and I haven't noticed it. Maybe I am warped and it "just fits"?

just a follow up, after having the car now for 4 months the seats have "worn in" to my preferred position and I haven't adjusted them in over 1.5 months. I think it took me a while getting used to them as they were a little hard for my liking when they were new.
