    Superb 3 Tank Capacity

    Hi All,

According to the brochure and owners manual the tank capacity on the Superb 3 is 66L. I have had my car since late May and filled up 4 times since then. I admit that generally let it run down pretty low, always somewhere in the red zone before filling up. The lowest was the computer telling me 35 kms until empty but the needle was still above empty. But.. I am yet to put in anything under 66L in it:

    First fill - 68L
    Second Fill - 69L
Third Fill - 71L (this was the 35km until empty fill)
    Fourth Fill - 68L

These are from three different service stations. This isn't something that I have come across and this is my third VAG car. I did ask Skoda Service and they said it was "strange"

I am assuming that I am just hitting the reserve tank? In the two 68L fills I have made my way to a service station within about 10 kms of the warning coming on

    Cheers, Ben

Interesting , I always low fill the jetta , sometimes down to 20 km to empty and can only get in around 52 litres into the manual advised 55 L tank.

The tank is definitely bigger than in the old B6 model.

I prefer not to run my tank too low to avoid pick up of any impurities on the bottom. I've run it very low once & put in 65 litres. Remember, you are also filling the inlet pipe, which could add another 3-5 litres beyond the spec tank capacity.

Some manufacturers used to include the pipe capacity in claimed tank capacity, but I know in Europe at least, that is not permitted these days.

Servo meters are not necessarily correct I once filled the 36 L tank in my Patrol with 41 L I made my displeasure known at the servo and rang the dept that deals with weights and measures to complain as up till then it never ever took more than the 36l as a Patrol has to pump it into the main tank to use it.

The ONLY way to get a true reading is always use the same pump at the same servo each time and fill it till you can see the fuel. The auto shut offs are not really reliable either as it depnds on how fast the fuel is going in as to when it shuts off.
