Skoda Australia - Panel Shop waited nearly 26 days for parts delivery from Skoda Aust

    Hello Guys $ Girls,

Well, I have my Superb back from the panel beaters after the repairer had to wait nearly 26 days for parts. It was only damage to my rear bumper. Luckily my rear tail gate (Boot lid) wasn't damaged or touched but a 26 day wait for the rear bar is just ludicrous. I sent a message through to Volkswagon Aust and gave them a real blast about lack of original parts in Australia. I'm not talking about rare parts I'm talking about every day Mechanical & Panel Beater commodities such as bumper bars, tail/head lights, bonnets, etc. Items that are normally damaged from normal parking bay type collisions. No...Skoda has to bring them in to the Country. Not good enough Volkswagon Aust. Every day type parts should be on hand and plentiful.

On a better note, panel beater did an excellent job at matching paint and lining everything up to original specs. Everything was checked and double checked. Very happy with quality of work and I would recommend them.

You are lucky, i had a rear ender in early September requiring rear bar, qtr panel, boot lid, screen and ancillary parts. I'm still waiting for it all to be pieced together, not helped by the panel beater not knowing what to order and having 4 orders for parts as he didn't know what to order and didn't get everything in the previous orders.

Actually, If anyone has a new model sedan, can you please take a photo of the tool kit in the boot. I need to know if things are missing. Post it on here...many thanks. A close up photo would assist.

This is a worry. Had not seen much in the way of forum posts reporting spare panel / body components and had assumed this was not an area of concern.😮

i too had a very long wait! had a rear pillar damaged by debris of passing truck and also damage to the roof rail on my wagon. it took VW 7 weeks to get the part in to the country and the first two shipped were damaged.this was in 2012 clearly they have not picked up their game. i pushed for compenstation and finally got a two year extended genuine warranty.

You need to expect this when buying any european car. The panel shop I used to work at once had a 16 WEEK wait for parts. The car was undrivable, so the customer had no choice but to pay for a hire car for the entire time

They should, yes, but reality plays out a bit differently.

Just one of the many privileges of owning a European car in this country.

Don't worry - like most of us, you soon get used to it.

I had a car park bingle last year. The rear bumper was bent and cracked together with a reflector. A non insurance job, it took 1 week from the first visit to the panel beater to driving away with a perfect finish. The bumper bar was delivered in primer after 3 days! The car was off the road for 5 hours.

I've had two things needing body parts on my Octavia. Someone rear-ended me last year, it took about 3 weeks for the rear bumper parts to turn up. Then in May I had the rear light cluster fail - all bulbs reporting as failed, garage tested them and they were fine but all the bulb units had failed. That took 2 months for the parts to turn up.

There seems to be little consistency with part supplies. I had a moisture problem in the left rear light cluster. Assessed (photographed), approved and replaced in 10 days. This was a Superb wagon.
