Not so Keen on Skoda Grille

    Hi all

Relatively new to Skoda and considering a Superb or possibly Karoq (the just announced 140kw engine!) in the near future.

Overall I quite like the latest model styling. Except for the front grille! Is it just me or do others agree it looks like cheap and chunky black plastic add on that reduces the overall external aesthetic that otherwise is pretty darn good IMHO!

Maybe a coloured option or sportier/sleeker pattern would set it off so much more. Heck even a bit more chrome accents thrown at it would smarten it up!

I’ve checked superskoda for after market options but doesn’t seem much on offer, are there other after market options available?

lol overall it must be a positive if all I can grumble about the car is the grille Not so Keen on Skoda GrilleNot so Keen on Skoda Grille

i actually don't mind the stock grille.
its got plenty of chome accents - well, the non-sportline version anyway.
    here is mine, as is.

the honeycomb grille from superskoda is a nice look.
some have put vRS "stripes" to jazz it up a bit.

apart from that, i don't believe there is any other design out there.

this one is the honeycomb version.

Thanks for the reply dArK5HaD0w Not so Keen on Skoda Grille

I like your grille that’s the sort of chrome snazzy look that to me looks much better than the plain black. Must’ve got myself confused (and dealer had lots of Sportline models in stock) as I didn’t pick up the different grille for the Style variant.

I just saw lots of plastic black ones and assumed that was the only flavour Not so Keen on Skoda Grille

Now I don’t have anything to dislike, well except having to see if I can hold off long enough to find out if or when exactly the digital console will be available downunder!

    Cheers!

the all-black accents would work well with certain colors and/or cars.

i think with my grey superb, the combo with black and chrome bits is a winner-winner-chicken-dinner.
i've even added extra chrome bits to my non-sportline (162TSi) superb.

regarding the digital dash - we should see it trickling through in MY19 models, however i reckon it would b towards the end of the year before we see it on our shores.

I’m looking at grey quartz, or my main preference is lava blue with beige interior. Instant factory order criteria I know!

Its funny how things go in circles, it was a big deal when side mirrors went to colour coded and now you pay more to get the plain black roof rails, mirrors and grille over the chrome/silver/coloured ones. I actually prefer the black though so paid it.

Too true! Shows we all want something different and some will never be happy with what’s on offer! For me I’ve not been a fan of the 'black shadow' styling that’s been a current trend...but my mate is gaga for it...

Lava blue has disappeared off the skoda website and may not be available anymore. I tried to order a new lava blue wagon in June but had to go for an existing stocked car in Australia.

From memory there was 2 lava blues with beige interior left in Gosford. One was a 206 wagon, the other was a 162 sedan.

Thanks for this info...yes I noticed the colour was not on the configurator and only saw it when checking on Carsales. I checked with a local dealer and he said it could be sourced as a factory order. I haven’t got to that stage to validate if that was valid or just trying to butter me up 🤣

I don’t mind either of the Skoda greys but I have a grey car now and was looking to mix it up a bit, sadly Skoda's colour options here don’t exactly excite if your looking beyond black, grey or white in a non sport line variant 😫!

Even NZ gets more colour options than us!

unlike Skoda AU, Skoda NZ is controlled and managed by an importer. hence they get lots of goodies/options.
wheras Skoda AU is micro-managed and suffocated by VW AU. hence in the best interest of VW sales, AU customers don't get the fancy bells and whistles.

if u go with the Sportline version here, u'll get two extra color choices!! velvet red and dragon green!!

i wanted Red with the 19" Supernova wheels, but i couldn't get that with the 162......so business grey it was
i got my roof wrapped in gloss black - it goes really well with the business grey
