    Kept in the dark?

We already know that the removable magnetic torch in the rear of the Superb has been removed (decontented in car speak). Has anyone noticed that *all* lighting in the rear has also been removed? I've been watching some reviews and they all have three lights in the back. Two on the passenger side and one on the driver side.
The Aussie reviews all show no lights. Is that something just for the early builds or are Skoda Aus being really really cheap?

And if they are being cheap, did they ask that the wiring be removed as well? Is there anything under the blanking plates?

    Hi bluesup,

My 16 wagon has it's boot lights on the tailgate so they're not visible in photos of the opened boot - I think that's standard. I believe the sedan has them in the boot, one on each side (plus the torch in OS models). Most of the Aussie reviews have been of the wagon - maybe that's the difference you've been seeing?

Otherwise it might be quirk in some of the demo models being supplied to the local press??

    Cheers

There are a number of discrepancies between the specifications published either overseas or here & what is actually in the car. The torch has done a bunk. So has the secure storage under the passenger or driver's seat.

At the time I was buying the car the salesman distinctly told me, & showed me a spec he had, that I could charge a Samsung S6 or whatever, wirelessly in the phone tray. I don't have such a phone, but that was wrong too.

The lighting in the boot of the sedan is a dull glow, usable but dull. I see SuperSkoda is pedalling a range of brighter, direct replacement LED plugins & I believe a unit which can be unplugged to use as a torch.

One item I noted to be significantly different was the CO2 output. On Skoda's European sites, it comes up on the configurator as 199g/k, yet the Australian declaration sticker on the windscreen of the actual car said output is 169g/k. One or both, must be wrong. There is one certainty we can be assured, VAG/Skoda Aust aren't selling a special cleaner version of the 206kW motor than they sell in Europe!

I don't think VAG/Skoda out here spec anything. They're just takers of an allocation. The first models out here were those I reckon were a selection of an early production run which European buyers weren't buying. The confusion over the missing driver's knee airbag & rear privacy glass tells me Skoda/VAG out here knew not what they were getting. I suspect the airbag is probably a mandatory requirement in most of Europe. Mind you, their 'privacy glass' might be OK in Europe, but when is the last time you saw such a car in Australia without darker solar tinted windows anyway?

The torch & under seat storage irritate me, but when it comes to the car its self, it is fantastic. One day I hope I might see another 2016 Superb, let alone a 206 on the road. So far, I have not seen another on the road, sedan or wagon. I know a bloke with one not far from me, in Sefton, but I gather he seldom takes it out of his garage! I saw at least ten Octavias, old & new new wagons or Scouts around Wollongong earlier in the week, but no Superbs. I think this a direct result of Skoda just not bringing in enough stock.

I've put the SuperSkoda replacements in my wagon. Very easy to do and very bright.

So far I've only seen three other 2016 Superbs in Sydney and two of those were driving in convoy as part of the dealer training before the official release. I actually took mine down and up the Bulli Pass on Monday so there was another 206 briefly in your vicinity this week.

    Thanks for the clarification.
I was looking at the SuperSkoda site and saw those lights, then went back to the Aussie reviews but couldn't see the lights, hence the question.

@Schoda 206, did you install this one?
Superb III Combi - MEGA POWER LED cargo trunk light - KI-R : superskoda.com

Is the original one really not so bright? sorry, I'm still waiting for my superb so I have no clue.

Did you install this one as well?
    Superb III - MEGA POWER LED door safety lights WHITE/WHITE - KI-R : superskoda.com

Is it easy to do as well?

Yes those are the ones. Like 2009fsi said the originals are useable but quite dull. The SuperSkoda ones are so much brighter and light up the whole area.

I didn't get the door ones. The originals seem to do the job well enough for me.

I also installed these LEDs for the rear indicators:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/381531640573?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageNa me=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

and these LEDs for the reverse lights:

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/291738930477?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageNa me=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

They both install pretty easy with instructions provided in the Skoda manual. No errors with the CANBUS thingy. The reversing lights are much better as LEDs.

Thanks for the links Shoda. I might need the reverse light.

First boat load of the 2016 Superbs has landed in Perth and Melbourne and Sydney will be this Monday the 18th.
Then you might start seeing a lot more on the road. All other 2016 Demo models that we used at the dealers to have a test drive have all been none full 2016 Specs for Australia. They were mashed together rough versions to get them over here quick for their official release of the new model.
The real Aussie production models will be starting to appear on our roads withing the next 2~3 weeks.
I should have mine at the end of next week or middle of the week after at the latest.
