I won't go ahead if I have to pay dealer price for the majority of the parts.
If I can get away with only having to buy a few repair wires, harnesses etc from VW spares then it'll be do-able (have seen reports of ~$450USD worth of parts if you already have front and rear OPS which I do)

Am keeping a scrapbook of notes as I gather info so if I don't go ahead maybe someone will find the info useful if they decide to do it.

I want to do it for no other reason than its a cool gimmick, and I like having the occasional crack at a retrofit. Was very happy with the RNS-E with voice control that I got installed in my A3 and figure from the limited info I have read that this isn't all that much more involved (except for drilling the bumper and getting the radar sensors painted).
