I've done some more searching and it looks like its a crankcase ventilation pipe but I still have no idea how to remove it.
Can anyone tell me what this hose in the pics is (arrowed)? I heard a loud hissing sound and found it was coming from this hose which connects to the cam cover. I turned the hose where it joins the cam cover and it came apart at the joint where it joins another short hose and a seal popped out which now I can't find.
I'll have to buy a new seal. Also how do these two hoses connect and how does the hose disconnect from the cam cover? I've never seen connections like these before.

You squeeze the ends, and they come off.

I'll see if i can get a pic when the mrs gets back from the shops.
Also your oil cap is upside down, that really should be your priority.

Thank you Umai Naa!! - I understand now. Push the sides of the clamp in and pull the hose off. I also found this video which shows it:

Oil cap orientation matters Justcruizn? Why?

yes that collar is the bit that sprung out. I'll have a better look for it on the weekend. Does the orientation of the oil cap really matter?
Only if you have OCD.

Ha ha JustCruisn, very funny. Well just bought the new hose from the dealer (for $66 would you believe!!!) and installed it and all good now. As per pic there is no "collar" joining the two parts as it's a one-piece moulding, so basically the middle concertina part of the hose just broke and fell away. Thanks for your help.
