Over the last week I have had a few things to do, comes in waves of motivation I spose.
I have was the car 4 days in a row due to the dust.
I have installed the Dieselgeek Short Shifter. Makes a considerable difference. I had to modify the shifter as the car has a different clutch slave to the US one, but the grinder saw that problem go away in a few minutes. Apart from the grinding it only takes 40 min to install.
Here is the modified component.
This morning I have had the rear muffler removed and some chrome tips added. I think that there is no noticeable difference on the city driving to the noise produced but will get on the highway this weekend for the drone test. Was cheaper to have the muffler removed and tip added than getting tips on to the muffler too!
Another cosmetic mod to come later in the week once I have been to VW to get some clips and then a 45K service next month.
Looking good Mick.
How notchy is yours? I took a good month or more for it to settle in. Must admit it's nicer when the car warms up.
I didn't have to modify mine to get it in. That said I am pretty sure I have shorter ratios to you in my GT but I would imagine that's the cogs and not the box.
i.e. in my comfortline I remember is doing about 1800rpm at 110. The GT does about 2000rpm. Could be wheels as well though, dunno.
The shifter is not notchy at all. I installed it and then adjusted it. Before the adjustment it was a little had into 1 and 2 - I'd say you need to adjust the side to side cable out from the attachment a little as it is not depressing the gate quite enough. Hard to say, but I think you can improve from what I felt as in comparison, mine is silky smooth.
The gearboxes should be externally the same for the cables and pivot. Just the bloody clutch slave that was a ball ache.
You saved enough money for your next spend mate?
Ok interesting. I might come round one weekend and we could have a squizz at it?
Getting much closer but I drove the car with the exact setup I was after and was kinda underwhelmed. But the CSC2's were so **** and really limited how the car felt.
Thinking I will just get a rear bar and all the bushes/ALK/Bumper steer kit to tighten it all up to start. Then save up for some V2s?
And with the help of some sticky tape
Nice!
I hope the tape I gave you does what it says it would.
They almost looked painted in that picture.
