Not usually a fan of Detroits but they look good on a red Mk5.
Looks good with the Detroits on it.

Cheers guys!
I am now tossing up whether to colour code the unpainted lower sections. I was previously against doing it but I'm not sure now - the painted black inners of the Detroits really highlights the lower sections of the car. I can't decide if this is good or bad!
You should colour code the lower sections. They look really good when painted.

Detroits look great, perhaps lower the cat slightly.
Are you thinking of colour coding the valance and skirts etc?
Major Service, Timing Belt, Water Pump and Battery Replaced on Mum's 06MY Golf built late 05, only done 48K.
-Water pump seals were starting to break down.
-Timing belt looked ok but am sure within few years it would break down.
-Battery - I decided to get replaced before it plays up being 6 years old.
-Rear Brake pads

Thanks. Yes I am strongly considering colour coding the valance and skirts - I haven't managed to convince myself yet that it would look better or worse.
Can anyone recommend someone in Brisneyland that does a good job for reasonable money? I did read a DYI guide on a US Golf forum where someone look all the lower trims off and sanded, primed, painted and clear coated and it looked great but a whole heap of work - I'm a little time poor at the moment
Thanks brimway. I will look into it
Does this help at all:
Old photo, but I love that mine is coded because it stands out
(Note, mine hasn't been sanded and filled, and is not the way I would do it, but is the way that it was done when I bought it over 12 months ago)
