I do have a gti , but you need to tell them anyways as the discounts are provided for forum members.

thats BS there is no discount for forum members from Klosters and Michelle confirmed it yesterday.

BTW the GTI has cheaper warranty than a Passat R36 so you are not comparing apples with apples.

I did get 36 / 75000 for under $2000 from another dealer and will post the information once it is finalised as their service was second to none.

Can someone tell me if Inchcape owns both Denlo VW and Chatswood? That seems to be what I picked up from the last 66 pages. Been following this thread off and on for the last few years.

I've emailed Joel Chan (Inchcape), but previous posts have mentioned Rashid (who also has an Inchcape email). Waiting to hear back from Rob McGrail @ Goldcoast. Already heard back from Michelle Traill @ Klosters (efficient!). Will try Kim Billet @ Southern Classic and perhaps Troy Sammut (post above mine, thanks XXX-1.8T).

Comparing both PDS that Michelle sent at the moment. Will post back later on when/if I get quotes from all of the above.

There are certainly deals to be had I'd say, but of course different premiums exist for different models. I am disappointed I didn't buy one earlier (the VW 3yr/160,000 warranty that recently got phased out).

Gold Coast VW market themselves at the moment as providing discounts, particularly to VWWC members and I'd say they do. They got back to me very promptly. They wouldn't provide me with a quote on the VW-branded warranty (stating there are no differences in the actual policies other than if we quote you using the Volkswagen brand, the premium is higher for the same coverage). I don't think that is exactly the case but for the entire PDS, there is about 5 different words. I got a quote of $1350 for the 2yr/up to 150,000km Allianz New Car Warranty from them.

I decided anyway that I would be happy with the Allianz New Car Warranty rather than pay the extra for a VW-branded New Car Warranty underwritten by Allianz. I thought about it and just like someone mentioned before, it's pretty hard to find a non-genuine DSG (although they could find a working one in a write-off I suppose). I also know for another vehicle I own that there are plenty of non-OEM parts that are made by reputable manufacturers to very similar/the same specifications but are more value for money. Ultimately you get what you pay for, and I was happy to make the compromise here. I plan to sell my Jetta privately in a month or two (I pickup a 4x4 Skoda Superb in a couple of weeks) and this was peace-of-mind in the interim and I thought it would help more in the sale process.

As odd as this sounds, I ended up getting my Allianz New Car Warranty through Paris at Subaru Docklands (Melbourne). I originally sent a fax to Inchcape and they referred my details to Subaru. The PDS is the same as the non VW-branded warranty and just lists Subaru Docklands as the intermediary for organising it. Her details are paris dot neale at inchcape.com.au or telephone 03 8698 3416. She was great to deal with & certainly happy to do a deal.

For the 2yr/up to 150,000km I was quoted approximately $1280.
I opted for the 3yr/up to 160,000km which was $1394.

Michelle from Klosters got back to me (thank-you!) but I'd organised the warranty already.

Chatswood Classic Cars, Barloworld Mascot & Burwin (Ferntree Gully Vic) have not responded to the faxes that I sent them seven days ago. Does not matter...I am happy!

Thanks Jase. Will get in touch with Paris. Nobody from Inchcape has gotten back to me. Neither has Southern Classic.
I was told by the phone operator for Goldcoast that Rob was away and was directed to Nicole, but she hasn't gotten back to me either. I'll give them a try again today.

Question. One of the people has requested a lot of info (over and above what the others have asked for), including price I paid for the car, Vin, Rego, Engine #.. just to give a quote. I know that may be necessary if I've decided to purchase, but before? Is that unusual?

Completely normal to ask for VIN, engine numbers, current kilometres, rego plate & even build code and / or build time (month & year). I think part of the process also assesses what your car is currently worth, although I was never asked what I paid (but one quote showed the assessed value). The online quotation process requires them to enter that info I think, not sure why a VIN is needed for a quote but something might need to be in that box to proceed...scary for those that believe in conspiracies or car identity theft etc.

Thanks Jase. An update for all. For comparison, my car's a 2009 Jetta 1.4TSI 7spd DSG with approx 29,500kms mileage.

    Klosters (Michelle Traill - 0424 169 541 - michelle.traill@kloster.com.au): $1564 (VW 2yr), $1607 (Allianz 3yr/75,000km)
Burwin (Eric 03 9752 2844): willing to match Klosters
    Subaru Docklands/Inchcape (Paris - 03 8698 3416): $1306 (Allianz 3yr/60,000), $1393 (Allianz 3yr/75,000)
    VW Osborne Park (Holly - 08 9273 2333): $1246 (VW 1yr), $1460 (VW 2 yr), $1492 (Allianz 3yr/60,000)
Goldcoast VW (Nicole - 07 558 38945): didn't hear back and since I needed to move on this, I've told her not to worry
Southern Classic (Mario - 02 4254 2000): no space to record a msg, so didn't bother

I went with the Allianz product and moved back to RAC's Roadside Assist. Needed the 3yr warranty coverage more than I did the roadside assist. I'm not too concerned with any replacement parts being non-VW as the PDS states "similar type and quality". The Allianz product has some minor benefits for vehicle rental costs, towing, accom/travel, locksmiths, but nothing compared to the VW roadside assist. I decided therefore to top it up with RAC's roadside assist.

Michelle from Klosters was the quickest to respond. Eric from Burwin gave great advice on the price I got from Michelle. I thought I'd try Goldcoast but I didn't get the feeling they were telling me everything (one day I was told Rob was out of the office, the following day I was told he no longer worked there and first they said he moved north, then when I asked where he moved to later, they wouldn't say). Paris was a pleasure to speak to and mentioned Jase and gave a great price. I spoke to my local dealer and when they found out I was gunning for the Allianz 3yr/75k, they price matched the best quote. On the basis of price and keeping up the relationship, I went with the local.

I would however, have no hesitation in recommending Michelle, Eric and especially Paris. It's hard to judge people on the phone but their manner gave me confidence if I had to buy a product from them.

Thanks to all the previous posters for providing details and their experience. I hope this helps someone down the line.
