    ah ok cool

So is that the case for both the 2 year and 3 year product?

cos what the guy at Barloworld was saying was that the extended warranty acted just like the original warranty (or at least the old product must have). So you as the customer don't even deal with Allianz. VW take care of all that AFTER they fix your car.
So is this new variant of the extended warranty the same thing?

    Anyone know?

    cheers

No, we didn't buy it from them.(the next one will be). Rob was looking after us vwwc members. Make sure you speak to Rob. Cause I had the same thing last year when I got a quote from them and the lady on the phone told me $2000!

It will depend on the type of car obviously. I got mine for a GTI at around $1,700 too from GC VW last yr.

So there are two types of cover. Allianz for 3 years, various klm ceilings, no roadside assist included and non geniune parts. VW (provided by Allianz), for 2 years, unlimited klm, roadside assist included and genuine parts.

There are other minor differences including hotel reimbursement costs, towing etc, and distances one has to be to be entitled to these items.

Who is going for what and why as there are major price differences per year depending on which one you go for?

    Thanks,

Who in their right mind would buy a warranty with non genuine parts? It's gotta be a false economy.

I just got some quotes from Rob with some options below

    Product KM
    24/Time Up to 100,000km
    36/Time Up to 100,000km

    24/50,000 Up to 150,000km
    36/60,000 Up to 160,000km

I am assuming that the KM's is the max KM's on my car? or is that the max KM's on my car over what the KM's are when the extended warranty starts? Im looking at the PDS and cannot find it.

edit .. got a reply... my assumptions were correct. up to means the max on your odometer.

Under the Allianz warranty, if i were to take my car to a VW dealer/repairer, then the presumption is that the dealer would use genuine parts, wouldn't they? If i were to take the vehicle to any other recognised repairer then there is a stronger assumption that non-geniune parts would be used, perhaps?
